There was in one of the earlier version of the demo, because you weren't supposed to get that far.
Later versions blocked him from appearing.
Apparently you could get all sort of funky shit to happen by hacking lots of money, which triggers certain events, and there was also a moonspeak scene where Charme tells you about a new dungeon (if you got that scene, apparently you should restart the game, because you jus borked the chance of properly transferring the demo save to the full game).

After a period of time some mobs will respawn but after a while no more will respawn. Your chains are ended at each level change so it doesn't matter to try and end on a high chain for the next level.

About the only counter to that is if you find good equipment while dungeon diving you can let him borrow it.

So based on what >>40096370 is implying, I have to beat both dungeons and kick charme's ass to recruit her? That's gonna be tough to do at lvl 3.

here's what I do:
day 1: buy a longsword and maybe some bread with whatever money you have leftover. sell the 1 unit of bread you get for free and nothing else.
day 2: do the hall of trials with louie. do not go to the market. do not go to the pub. go straight to the adventurers guild. let him borrow the longsword and feed him bread when he's hurt. chain the fuck out of the slimes on floors 1 and 2, but don't bother with the lower floors. if you want to take your time and try to chain everything you can, but you'll take like 20 minutes per floor. at the end of the trials, you'll be level 7 or 8 if you aspie the fuck out of chaining, or level 6 if you don't. most of what gets dropped here is shit so don't worry about eating dropped apples and throwing out slime fluid. when you get back to town, it's time to take louie through the jade way. give him the sword again. do the entire jade way. food sells well, so keep that shit. keep a fin fan if you get one, and water crystals, but you should prioritize food. eat the low-rank food you find, and keep the stuff that restores SP or lots of HP.
day 3: do jade way again.
day 4: put the odd vase you get in your window, along with your most expensive food items, and stock your store with all the food you brought back. sell at about 110%, except to the lolis. when you run low on food, run to the market and buy the most expensive food you can, and have the rest be cheap food. keep doing this. you'll have 25K easily and hit merchant level 10 before day 7 is over.

pretty good chances. just kill everything on each floor, you'll be level 15 or close to it. try to save your healing items for charme unless you're really good at fighting her. the safest way to do it is to stay out side of her attack radius and just wait for her to do her charge attack. then hit her in the butt a few times and back off

A problem with bring a lot of stuff for your adventurer is those items take up pots from items you find in the dungeon.

Just did a run-through of the demo. I suck at dungeon crawling, so I stopped at lvl 10 of Jade way (after trying 15 times to go all the way), and just ran the store for the rest.
Business really picks up as you build up a rep and those merchant levels help.
Kept that little girl content and eventually she started coming in 'on an errand' to buy all my highest-priced stuff. 6K willpower ring "For my brother", with that displeased look on her face. 100% as usual, a big smile "Thanks Ms Recette!!"

You don't need to worry too much about getting Charme defeated on Day 2. Just beat the Hall of Trials, and then the first 5 floors of Jade Way. Do the next 5 floors on Day 3, save, and finish it. Sure you're not OPTIMIZED CAPITALISM, but doing optimal shit for 36 days is going to suck dicks, so really just getting a strong start from the demo is enough.

Also, any idea on what triggers Charme's fast run? I'm trying to use her, but DAT ATTACK RANGE. Here's hoping for a manly lancer sometime down the line to kick ass. Nigga will be getting equipment for free.

Charme isn't TOO bad, in fact the difficult part is usuallt derping and getting raped in floor 13-14. Just don't try and attack her twice, keep her away from the wall so she doesn't hit you back after taking a hit, and punish her charge attack. It's basically abusing your better sword range for a hit and then backing off and doing it again.

Just went through the demo for the 2nd time. Still made a few mistakes but ended with 2k spare, merchant level 4 and Louie level 12, and met the lady thief at end of day 6.

Guess there's not much else to do but for some reason I already want to play again...
