ago, a great empire was peaceful and prosperous because the Imperial
family were all powerful magicians, a talent borne in the blood and
which allowed the empire to do without a military because the royals
took on the burden of defence. However, jealousy and envy will never be
sated and the imperial family was wiped out and the empire shattered by
the machinations and intrigues of rivals.
The world has been
fractured since then, but in a Dune kwisatz haderach-esque genealogical
programme a secret society has been labouring to restore the imperial
bloodline, combining sixteenths and sixty-forth part-descendants to tie
them back together into a full-blooded child who will be the first
Mage-Emperor of a triumphant restored empire. Naturally, there are many
hostile forces with vested interests in the present world, who these
Imperial Life Scientists must fight against.
With this set-up you
can have lots of spy-thriller intrigue and action and political
philosophising as the Life Scientists try to capture the next link in
the chain or convince him or her to follow them, and protect them from
assassins... and there can be sex too as the Life Scientists put pairs
together and say "okay, get busy guys, we need your embryos already!"
There'd be something for everyone. |
