Well the amount of people who don't know 4chan is reassuring, what with moot whoring himself out to journalists so much lately.

It's a trade off.
In most Forums that aren't 4chan you are raped slowly into subservience to the moderation and the forums "elite" members, you won't notice, but eventually you'll either become one of them or realize "Hot damn, why do I even talk to these assholes?"
In 4chan, it's rape right the fuck away. Everyone's an asshole most of the time, and they really don't care what you have to think. Then, once you get past you realize that, 1. You're allowed to be an asshole too, and 2. You'll find the most honest and interesting conversations about what ever subject matter you want to discuss, and 3. Nothing ever gets stale, because there are is no "Elite" to push their feelings on everyone, and stuff that gets talked about is only talked about because lots of people want to.
