I don't know if the show played any part in helping them save it from demolition, but I'm glad they saved it. Its a really odd, funky looking building.

It was a good choice as a setting for the show too, especially that hall. All the wood, big rooms and windows give it an old, dusty nostalgic feel. Fits the atmosphere of the show well.

I find when they make slide phones, they usually make them too thick.
You can get a thin as hell flip phone, but for some reason slides are a thrid thicker than a flip phone while closed.

From what I heard it was originally going to be demolished for a newer school but they did not for some reason. Then the author of K-on made the manga around that setting in a way of thanks for not letting it be torn down I think. They made a new school right next to the only one if I am not mistaken but dont take my word on any of this. It's just from what I remember reading up one day.

I actually went earlier this month and last month as well. I was living (study abroad) in Shiga Prefecture, so it was pretty close.

As for getting there, my Japanese friend drove us there both times. It wasn't too hard to find, just a lot of small roads and turns as you would expect in Japan.

Both times we just walked in and went where ever in the school. The second time though they were having a small festival thingy. Not fully K-ON related, but as you can see near the Mio sigh, they were selling some K-ON shirts outside, but alas I was too poor to get one.

I'm back home now, but going another time would def. be on my list of to-do things if I ever am able to return. This time I'd try to get pictures of the scenes around the town.

They should hold a special exclusive live event there, open to competition winners only or something.

I'm using a friends Epiphone Les Paul Special II right now which is the low end starter guitar of Gibson's low end brand, only about $160 new on Amazon. I wouldn't even consider buying a more expensive guitar until I figure out if I want to keep playing.

The highest end guitar I could imagine buying as a casualfag is the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top in Cherry Sunburst, and that would only cost $560 shipped from Amazon.
