Motoko has no reason to shut him down. Plus not much a of a chance without the proper intel and weapons to fight against John. Physically, even the most powerful prosthetic body she has access to can't really stand up to him inside his armor. Plus it'd be hard to fight him while Cortana tried to screw with her on the electronic plane.

I like the Major, but I'd have to give it to MC just on the strength that his fighting prowess is much greater. His track record is just as long hers is in combat, but he's done a lot more and come out of it well. And he's lucky. So there you go.

Not to say the Major isn't the same way, but you can't compare a character who is put into situations meant to be solved only one way for gameplay reasons and a character who is a jack-of-all-trades on the battlefield. The two don't work out because there is no setting that can accommodate both of them.

Halo is the name of the game and a massive Son of a Bitch Machine. Not the characters that people run around in online matches as. They're called Spartans or Elites, son.

Compared to Motoko, the things the Chief does are fucking insane. Motoko, being as smart as she is, if she got any sort of intel of what she was up against she'd realize retreat is her best option.

Chief fought through 4 days of hell up against an entire Covenant armada, solo's more or less EVERYTHING, goes up against motherfucking spec ops Black Elites, holyshit nigger you don't what to fuck with these guys. 8ft 2inches, energy shielded, hot-plasma throwing fuckers.

He then nukes everything, escapes in one measly fighter and groups up with a measly troop transport, with Cortana's help he does daring plan 101 and manages to capture a motherfucking COVENANT FLAGSHIP, 3km of hoollyshit packed with shitloads of Covenant. He then fights his way to the bridge, see's that nobody is home and suddenly the motherfucking Arbiter comes out of no-where and starts fighting him with an energy sword, Arbiter cuts his arm half-off with the sword, Sgt. Johnson shoots a full-clip straight through the Arbiters stomach and out the otherside, Arbiter is still going before Chief kicks him in the torso into an escape pod and blasts him off that motherfucking shit.

Fucking counterstrike source AI beats the hell out of the dumb meatshields that is Halo campaign AI. I think ODST AI was some of the worst AI scripting I had seen dating back to the Quake 3 era. Aliens rolling out of cover, grenades shrugged off as something to think about later, and countering strafing by standing still, playing a 4 second sidestep animation, and then raising their weapons back up again. It was almost Goldeneye levels of awful.

It's really only good in massive hordes because most of the time they act completely uncoordinated.

He can literally flip a tank over with his hands. Plasma bursts don't kill him because his shield was DESIGNED to stop it (to some degree). His shields recharge because that's what they were DESIGNED to do. The only things he's done that I would call lucky would be jumping out of one cruiser and into another while approximately 1000 km above the earth, and jumping out of the Arc and onto Earth. Underneath, Motoko is still a person. She tried to hang onto that, since her soul is the only thing that is still human. All else is digital encodes, memories, and artificial bodies.

John has the opposite going on. He's an older guy(around what 40 or 50 with slowed aging) with a human body, but has the mentality of a war machine. Everything is about the job. From the moment he gets up 'til the second he lays down his head at night, it's all ingrained in him to be a weapon to be wielded in defense of humanity.

As far as a battle is concerned, tactically, fighting a Spartan without a way of nuking them outright or making the fight based not upon straight up combat, but a battle of information warfare would allow the Major to actually do what she does best. Otherwise, it'd not be a very long fight.

No fight in either series last more than a few minutes. Not even barehanded fighting would. Both of them could shelve the pain and just twist and tear the other to bits. And even without the battle armor, John is working with an enhanced body that is beyond peak human performance in speed an d strength.(As a teenager, he killed a couple of grown well-trained, experienced military men and didn't even get a scratch on him). This is an equal fight, but the circumstances would determine the victor.

Indirect battle with a clear goal not the annihilation of the opponent : Motoko would win.

Direct battle 1 on 1 with normal loadout of weapons for both : Master Chief would win.

Except most of John's stories are classified to the max. His reward for saving Humanity, even if for a brief moment, is that he can finally rest. By the end of Halo 3 there was really no more purpose for him, what other situation could possibly require a Spartan-II? He more or less died either way by the end of the last game, his reward is that he gets to goto sleep until he's needed again.
