Sup /a/. Gonzo held a general assembly for its shareholders yesterday. There was a Q&A round with Gonzo's standing Executive Vice President Chairman, Shinichiro Ishikawa (former CEO of GDH and anime producer for Gonzo's Vandread, Hellsing, and Kiddy Grade series). I've translated 2 questions which actually dealt with the future of Gonzo's anime production. My transciption may not be the most accurate, so if you'd like to see the original, visit:

As I've not heard anything about the status of Gonzo's animation production coming into this year. Is production restarting from the ground up or has the foundation not been shaken at all?

    >A:これまで新作品が無いのは事実だが、大型オリジナル中国向け劇場版を

Up until this point, its true that there have been no new productions. However, a substantial original movie is being created with and for China. Our partner is Shanghai Media Group (SMG), the same party that will be assisting Toei in the production of their newly announced Ikkyuu-san movie. Another announcement is that we've begun work on a domestic television series. Though it was previously announced, I think any additional information will please Gonzo fans very much, so I'd like for everyone to anticipate it.

    >Q:村田蓮爾デザインの新作の噂、ラストエグザイル2の噂は真実か
Range Murata is rumored to be working on designs for a new Gonzo production. Are the rumors of a Last Exile 2 true?

    >A: ご想像にお任せするしかない。
I have no option but to leave that up to your imagination

    (pic is probably unrelated)

Also, these were the designs the second question covered. Some people think they're for a sequel to Last Exile. Or, at the very least, another TV anime with Range Murata character designs (like Shangri-La last year)

    I appreciate your hard work!

It's just, there's really nothing substantial here other than that they're making new stuff, which I would think would be the norm.
    >> Anonymous 06/26/10(Sat)12:37 No.36837053
So they're not completely dead yet?
    >> Anonymous 06/26/10(Sat)12:38 No.36837092
Last Exile 2 would be pretty damn awesome. Range Murata designs are real easy on the eye aswell.

    Thanks for the info.

IMO it may be the anime that originally replaced by Shangri-La about the Zombie girl who's seeking revenge.

I forgot the name, but IMO it would've fared better than Shangri-La.

I just want to know if they're holding on to the license or planning to sell it to another studio.

    They only restructured last year.

    GDH (Gonzo's former parent company):

-laid off more than half of their workforce
-Absorbed the Gonzo animation studio and took its name as their own
-Dropped all association with Gonzo Rosso, Gonzo's game division (which was planned to be bought out by Atlus

They're still around but they're keeping quiet. The domestic TV anime announced at TAF is their only scheduled anime in Japan. AIC and A-1 Pictures have multiple shows planned for just next season. And even then, Gonzo said it had a tentative Spring 2011 release date.

They're bound to be leeching of AIC to live then, i presume?

Gonzo doesn't hold a "license" for contracted work, only in-studio originals and similar projects.

Saki was produced by Square Enix and its production committee of sponsors, which Gonzo was most likely not on. The fact Gonzo couldn't even keep up with the series half way through and began outsourcing work to 5 other studios is a good indication that they won't be handling a Saki project anytime soon. But if >>36837276 's timetable is accurate, Gonzo could rebound in time for a second season. It's anyone's guess really. It just won't be in the next year.

I'm pretty sure they just shoveled off production for Strike Witches 2 and whatever other projects were on their plate to AIC. As far as I know, they didn't establish a partnership or anything of the sort.

    Disregard what i said here:
    >>36837179

Since the anime already goes under GoHands Anime Studio(whether this is under Gonzo, I'm not sure, since it was originally Gonzo which was slated to animate this), concept art was also done by Range Murata.

    Trailer here:
    >Murata described the story to ANN: "The main character is a girl, and her body is burned by the bad guy, and she dies, but then she's resurrected. So she's out for revenge."

I can't blame them, since Mardock Scramble was supposed to be animated by Gonzo, reference is here:

But we should take note that the art style between the GoHand trailer and Gonzo is drastically different.

Someone should ask who came up with the idea to adapt Romeo and Juliet.
I really wonder who could have thought that it was a good idea.
    >> Anonymous 06/26/10(Sat)13:27 No.36838779
There are already many anime studios "splitted" from Gonzo:

David Production: Book of Bantorra, Ristorante Paradiso

    Lambda Film (new founded)

    Encourage Films: Ontama

Hoods Entertainment: Aki Sora, Seikon no Qwaser

Studio Gokumi (former Gonzo 5th Studio, new founded): Koe de Oshigoto

Studio Granphinica (former Gonzo Digital Department, new founded)
    >> Anonymous 06/26/10(Sat)13:31 No.36838969
    >>36838711
The idea is just crazy and edgy enough for Gonzo to pick up.

Gonzo was kind of like an advantageous but devastatingly unsuccessful Madhouse.
