Alright, not trolling here, but what do people who enjoy K-on like about it?

Just completed season one, and I didn't especially enjoy it; I didn't feel like anything really happened, and I could've just watched the first and last episodes and gotten the story.

I'm no god of anime. What is it that makes this show enjoyable? I feel like I must be looking for and expecting the wrong things. Is it just to kill time? I'm neither a lolicon or whatever you call people into moe, are those required to enjoy this?

I'm a music nerd, and I didn't expect much of that in the anime itself, but it was a little disappointing to see the instruments and playing them be a tiny fraction of the screentime.

If you want a music anime, watch Beck.

You don't watch K-on with a logical, critical mindset. You turn off your brain and just go with the flow. I, too, attempted to find the logic in it when I watched the first two episodes, continuously wondering what the fuck I was watching. Then I watched it when I was tired of watching loldeep stuff or some other thing, and I let myself sit at the comp, smiling and giggling like a retard through the third ep. I finally got it then.

You don't need to be a lolicon or anything to enjoy it. It's just silly entertainment that you just might not like.

I have watched beck, I just thought I'd share that tidbit of it. They put the instruments and the band right out in the front like it's what the entire story is about, and then there is no story.

It's like an American cartoon of Japan. No plot, just characters that have a mini-arc every episode. Like scooby doo or some such.

Every entertainment's purpose is to kill time. And some of us enjoy it cause it's one silly thing after another. Several of the more enjoyable jokes are related to things many of us actually enjoy, but just don't let go nowadays. Might be what some people call "fantasy realization" or something like that.

    It's just light entertainment.

What? What I mean by 'kill time' is to literally do something when you have nothing you'd rather do, and are waiting for the time to pass. I play games and watch anime because I WANT entertainment, I don't think I'm time-killing when I stay up all night to finish a game or series.
    >some of us enjoy it cause it's one silly thing after another
There were a couple tidbits that made me chuckle, but do you really watch for "azu-nyan!" and face-rubbing? I may never understand.
    >Several of the more enjoyable jokes are related to things many of us actually enjoy, but just don't let go nowadays.
"I wish to be the little girl" etc? They don't really do anything exceptional. I read Ippo in part because I'd love to box if I weren't so vain.

Thanks for the big response, by the way. Hope you can help clarify

Yes, it is simply a silly show to pass a relaxing time watching something without having to worry about plot or drama, nothing serious. However k-onfags love it for some weird reason people like us will never be able to understand.
You're better off just accepting it as a fact and not questioning, because there is no logic behind it.

Because it's an entertaining show about girls with charming personalities, and we watch their day to tday activies
It's a nice show because it's a break from all of the action, slapstick, and (in my opinion) mindless fanservice and the cheap jokes that go with it.

K-ON! unlike many anime, is set up like a sitcom. Each episode has it's own plot, not an over-arching one. They might mention something that happened before, but that's about it.

It's like watching Family Matters. You absorb the characters, the plot, the comedy and decide if you want to watch this or go home, go home, go home.

Obviously people aren't old enough in this thread to understand the appeal of this type of moe.

Basically when the characters in K-ON act like retards it elicits a certain feeling and it is related to the feeling of wanting to protect a child, basically it's sort of an instinctual thing,in men and women.

That's probably why opinions on K-ON are so polar since people aren't having the full experience.

The entire series seemed to be borderline slapstick to me. Some jokes surely were, but the other bits the viewer is obviously supposed to laugh at seemed forced, even for silly little girls.
    >unlike many anime, is set up like a sitcom. Each episode has it's own plot, not an over-arching one.
