This is true. This is one of the most tone deaf shows I've ever seen.
Not just between episodes, but all in the span of a single ep. you'll have slapstick comedy one minute, bloodbath action the next, and sentimental sob story the next. It's interesting I guess, but kind of jarring.

First we almost get to see a gay threesome, but thank god Naoi was raped in the ass by a shadow.
Then we see a fight vs a shitload of shadows, but they can't do shit and just stand there.
Somehow they manage to fuck nameless minion #23 offscreen, so we get to see what happens if they rape someone.
After that, Yuri reveals Otanashi's master plan and dissolves the SOS, err SSS Dan and wanders off to find the culprit alone (OOC, but meh, at this point I don't even care anymore).

There's also some retarded midget action (now with wings, + 1 figurine per braindead otaku) and "WHOA, she's a human?!" No shit Sherlock...

I just thought of why Chaa is probably not the culprit. The place Yuri found was the Guild, not the Old guild. Chaa and all of them had moved to Old Guild and the SSS would've seen signs as they moved through the Guild of someone residing there. This however places eyes on one of the cast that we haven't seen for two episodes, 5Dan. 5Dan has been said to be training in the mountains, from the mouth of TK. TK being TK is probably not the most reliable source, due to his bad Japanese, but he is trusted in the SSS and thus his words would be taken as true. The fact that TK and 5Dan are good friends can also be seen as the two being cohorts, though I doubt this.

the passage ways are heavily trapped though, if you consider the person being an insider (i doubt 5dan honestly, he hasnt shown any computer proficiency and got raped in a trap, it would be the biggest wtf in the whole show), would allow them to be able to set up an area within the trapped zones to help stave off people


though there is also the question of who built the Guild area in the first place, it was already there when the SSS formed/found it, so the culprit could be the person who made that (considering he is making changes to the world currently he might have been able to alter it to create that area when the SSS formed and put guns there to make things more interesting)

we are especially shown takamatsus eyes, you can make out binary in them, so theres something important about it
either he is being controlled to seem like an NPC, or he is a clone and the real takamatsu is underground where the culprit is

also if you think about the shadow monsters being a test then there is some sense in how they stop attacking after takamatsu gets taken, he sends up one to try and capture ooyama, it gets beaten, sends up another to try capture naoi, it gets beaten, so sends up a bunch and one manages to snag a prey
the goal wasnt to wipe out the SSS, just to test the program
