    Okay, first of all: D'awwwwwwwwww

Second: What the fuck /a/? The entire time she was saying "I'm paralyzed and bed ridden, and my mom takes care of me every day," etc... on top of that, there were numerous mentions of "the real world," implying that the world they are in is fake and that they are still alive.

    So... happiness Matrix confirmed?

Yui in this episode was fucking adorable. Pure HNNNNNG. Why couldn't she have been like this the entire show instead of her usual annoying self? I understand she was her usual annoying self because she was bedridden while alive and trying to live this second life to the fullest, but this Yui destroyed my nutbladder, and I want more of that.

I hate this theory with a raging passion. If they're still alive and not dead, it just means that they just get brought back to a fucking shit life. Chaa would still be unable to get back with his waifu, Yui would still be fucking paralyzed after experiencing that wonderful dream of hyperactivity, Yuri would have no siblings still, Iwasawa still can't sing and still suffers brain trauma which will probably get worse, etc. It's just a fucking cruel idea. Only person who would get off for the better is Otonashi.

None of them had a 100% guaranteed death either. They all merely passed out or something.
Hinata did drugs and OD'd, but could still be alive.
Otonoshi was unconscious, but presumed dead from starvation/dehydration, but he still coulda been alive.
Yui and Yuri never revealed their deaths when they told their stories. Nor did any other character.
My money is on this being a coma world of some sort.

As do I my friend. As do I. When I was younger I remember always thinking that every anime had a horribly sad ending, and that they always ended on a depressing note just to fuck with the viewer. I might have been too young to understand what the director was going for, or any implied underlying themes or messages from the story, but I will always associate older series with sad or fucked up endings. Lately I haven't seen much of that, as most recent shows have relatively happy endings, but this could be one to break the curve.

What's strange is assuming the world they're in is something man made like a program that they're all connected to, it's likely that their physical bodies are at the same location, like a hospital. If that's true, then those who vanished or woke up first would be able to see their comatose companions and know that they're all still alive, but would have no way to tell them the truth.

I agree that it's a good thing, and can even agree with Otonashi wanting to help them do so. It's the way he's going about it that's wrong. Trying to make them vanish without telling them isn't much differnt than Naoi's hypnotism method.

If they all (including Kanade) would just sit down and talk they might be able to find a way to honestly help each other or at least reach some sort of understanding instead of fighting or trying to trick each other.

I've decided that Japan associates trucks with the devil, as they so often use them as tools to kill or destroy the most innocent characters. Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Angel Beats, Kurokami, Denpa Teki na Kanojo (though that bitch deserved it), the list goes on.

She should be using this life as an opportunity to makeup for her original tragic childhood, as thats what the world was meant for, but she is too stuck on vengeance and can't move on. There is no god in this afterlife, and she will continue to fight aimlessly forever at this rate. Brotonashi's intentions are pure and I see no flaw in his methods.

    >There is no god in this afterlife, and she will continue to fight aimlessly forever at this rate
That's your personal opinion, but it's not hers. She has all the same knowledge about the world that you do but she has made a different choice than you would. What gives you (or rather Otonashi) the right to take that choice away from her and overrule it with your own?
    >> Anonymous 06/05/10(Sat)03:01 No.35824470

The difference is she wouldn't have to ask "why are you doing this?" and he wouldn't have to lie about it.

There's certainly a gray area when it comes to helping people who don't want your help. Most people wouldn't agree to involuntarily committing an alcoholic for treatment, but most people would agree that an alcoholic in a drunken depression should be prevented from committing suicide.

Just think how many months or years were wasted fighting Kanade over a misunderstanding that could have been avoided if she and Yuri had simply spoken honestly for 10 minutes. It may be easier to trick them now, but what would happen to Otonashi's plan if Yuri finds out or it creates another misunderstanding. In the long run, it'd simply be better not to try to deceive each other.

Look getting over regrets is fine and all, but Otonashi is fucking shallow. His ways of trying to make Yui happy was just giving her treats, in which he never dealt with the real meat of things. He tried to solve it as quickly as possibly and didn't really put much thought into it. To me, this just shows that Otonashi doesn't really care so much about the person in question as he does his ego.

I mean they haven't had any clue or lead to suggest that there is a God, other than "who created this strange world?" but the same could be asked about the real world in their first lives. If there is a God, they're running out of episodes to introduce him.

But yeah, as for that shadow thing, your guess is as good as mine. I guess we'll have to wait till next week to see that one.

The "no god" thing is implying that they're not gonna go full Haruhi on us and reveal that Oto or Yuri was God all along, though if Yuri was, and this was all keikaku, then she would be master troll, but people would just cry that its a Haruhi ripoff.

because the show has established that passing on is a good thing, and lingering is not

why do you think Hinata help Yui disappear despite fully knowing the implications?
    >> Bitches & !Whores/8sg 06/05/10(Sat)03:04 No.35824552
maeda might be purposefully making their status as either dead of in a coma ambiguous just to mess with us for the ending, even though they could pull the coma card itd be a shitty end

as to the second, seeing they dont really know what happens after you disappear, i took yuis conversation as a "what if i was paralyzed again when you find me", theres not much worse than the state she was while still being alive so its similar to the "for better or worse" or "in sickness or in health" vows

but Otonashi does have more knowledge about this world than Yuri. Kanade straightup told him that the world was meant to give kids with shit-childhoods a second chance at their childhood. Yuri doesn't know this.

For me, the world is just way too strange. The most important reason is that the afterlife for teenagers with shit lives is a school. Why teenagers with shit lives and why put them in a school? Why not all people with shit lives and put them all together? It's just way too organized.

if it's anything like Haibane Renmei, a big manifestation of your regrets will come to destroy you if you linger in purgatory too long

Was the slide show at the end what Yui wanted or what really happened when both of them were alive. It could of totally possible that both Hinata and Yui met in the "Real World" which is why she was so open to him in their world.

I would give them my honest opinion and tell them exactly why it was a bad idea. I wouldn't get someone to dress up like a cult member and mug them, or tie them to a chair so they can't leave the house.

Yuri understood this before SSS even existed. It's one of the first things she explained to Hinata, so he knows too. We don't know whether she explained it to everyone else or if they figured it out on their own, but it's a safe bet that at least some of them have put two and two together.

Shut up. I'm not whatever faggot you were arguing with, but just shut the fuck up. Free will faggotry is rampant in all these threads. But you know what? Sometimes free will is less important than going to heaven or finding happiness. All you're doing is whining that "he took way dere free wills he did", what kind of shitty argument is that? Every day they wake up unfulfilled, knowing that in the afterlife they can never really finish what they wanted to do. By helping them move on, by closing the door on their regrets Otonashi gives them the chance to actually live their lives and make use of their time. So basically it's your "how do you know they want to be saved, even though Otonashi was saved but chose to stay behind because he wanted to durr hurr durr" versus the argument of the show and of people with common sense "help depressed friends achieve fulfillment, give them a chance at a new life"

Would it have made a difference in her happiness if he'd spent six months training her to take on five men in a soccer match?

/a/ sure loves their disability girls.
The dialogue was if they met in real life.
Well no one knows what happens after they disappear, so Hinata and Yui could really meet someday.

No, he should've at least built a relationship with her. The only reason why Hinata's words had the impact they did was because Yui and him had such a relationship. If Otonashi was the one who said he'd marry her, she probably wouldn't have disappeared.
