How do you treat weeaboos, /a/?
Particularly those of the Naruto and Bleach affinity.

Sometimes when they suspect me of watching anime, I respond with "Anime? Ehh.. those Chinese cartoons? Yea, I was totally into it when I was little, like Pokemon and Digimon were totally awesome."

    Just to troll them.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:38 No.35416154
    >Ehh.. those Chinese cartoons

I use same phrase to conceal my powerlevel
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:39 No.35416191
The key word is, avoid avoid avoid, though I have made some friends by slowly showing my powerlevel and making sure they aren't weeaboos first.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:41 No.35416277
With most people, I'm very open about my love for anime and my fandom. With weeaboos, I tend to just try to disassociate myself. If forced to speak to them, I will talk about good anime they've likely never heard of.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:43 No.35416343
    I stay away from weaboos.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:45 No.35416423
Dudes, concealing your powerlevel does not need to be trolltastic.

Just same something to the effect of "What's Anime?" and play it REAL FUCKIN COOL. They'll eventually realize they're barking up the wrong tree.

Shit, I'm a Bleachfag myself. My powerlevel isn't even Captain Jobber Tier.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:45 No.35416435
I try to avoid them, but if I end up in a situation where I'm talk with one, I pretend that I don't know shit about anime.

"Sorry, I'm not really into cartoons; it's just not my thing, ya know."

Although I did watch DBZ when I was little.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:48 No.35416569
How do you guys know if a person is a weeaboo? (Apart from the obvious big 3 fixation, I mean).

    My list of signs:
They (try to) use japanese when they're speaking (BAKA! DESU!)
(for yaoi whalebeasts) Insult each other's "husbandu" tastes
    Put emoji, like ^__^
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:52 No.35416708
I have chats with a friend of mine who's into anime occasionally - he's a big fan of death note, but he's watched a reasonable amount other than that. He's not a fan of any of the big3, thank fuck. He's a bit socially awkward and doesn't have many friends other then me but hey, that's anime fans. He could accurately say the same about me.

I keep trying to push him more towards seinen manga and slice of life, but it's alright nattering on about Xam'd, GL and the like for the meantime; I tend to know a shitton more than him about studios, VAs etc plus I've seen and read several times as much as him, which I kind of take for granted having had /a/ as my only source of anime discussion for so long.

Say what you like about summer, but our collective powerlevel's still massive.

If someone talks to me about anime, I'm all ears.
They start talking about Naruto, I answer with "yup" to all the senctences.
When I try to talk about something decent and the guy says he hates it because of some retarded nearly religious anger torwards anything good, pic related, that's my face.
    But I manage.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)20:01 No.35417145
I don't give them any special treatment. I treat them with respect, as I do with everyone. If they don't return that respect, I ignore them.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)20:01 No.35417167
    I'm not afraid of weeaboos.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)20:03 No.35417225
There this really gross gross kid in my writer's craft class. His eyes are fucked up and are like inside his head and cross-eyed, wears glasses and is just gross looking. Anyways, in this class we have to do our practical exam where we can do pretty much anything. Lo and behold he fucking 'draws' a shitty manga. I class he always try to talk to my teacher about anime or answers questions and bring up an anime after. In the beginning of the class we had to do a questionaire sheet, first question was your fav shows, he puts zero no tsukaima, zero no tsukaima second season and zoids. So basically I avoid any and all contact with weeaboos and the like.

I tend to pull the cheap "you realize the shonen demographic's supposed to be like 10-16, right?" card in those situations. "You're 18/19/20, mate, try reading something seinen instead."

They tend to work on the assumption that whoever they speak to will believe that people into their twenties enjoy Naruto and Bleach, and not have a proper counter-argument.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)20:06 No.35417382
    >>35417225
Woah, that's a pretty extreme case. I mean, I love loli as much of the next guy, but I'm so scared of being branded a pedo the only things I admit to liking are things like YKK, Aria and Mushishi.

He either has impressive balls or a very skewed outlook on society.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)20:06 No.35417387
Since when did weeaboo go from describing an interest in anime to being synonymous with narutard?

    >They tend to work on the assumption that whoever they speak to will believe that people into their twenties enjoy Naruto and Bleach, and not have a proper counter-argument.

Wow, could you BE stuck any further up your own ass? I mean, yeah, if you don't like the shows fine, but do you really have so much free time that you can sit around and strategies the best way to antagonize the people who do? Is it so important to you that you try to "convert" these people; to make them "understand" how wrong they are to like something that's not purposely built and tailored to their exact demographic specification instead of just going "Eh, saw a bit, didn't like it" and moving on?
    >> Rikudou !PVvuHw8lII 05/27/10(Thu)20:10 No.35417541
Well, right off the bat, weaboos by definition believe that Japanese culture is superior to American culture, so if that comes up in a conversation, there's going to be a verbal clash. I'm unapologetically ethnocentric, and think that Japan deserved The Bomb both times.

Other than that, I'm fairly respectful of peoples tastes, anime/manga included, and would converse with people in a friendly tone about such stuff.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)20:10 No.35417577
    >>35417387
... Uh, you have that backward.

Weeaboo was the replacement for Wapanese/Wap, and has ALWAYS meant the loudmouth, arrogant, self-hating, Japan is superior to everything assholes that treat any anime as being the god given best thing on the planet. It's NEVER meant just someone who "enjoys anime" except by the sadly misinformed.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)20:11 No.35417603
    i hate them.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)20:15 No.35417781
    >>35417577
This is pretty accurate. A weeaboo is 'that annoying kid who won't shut up that everyone hates', the guy that forces you to suppress your powerlevel less they associate you with him.

/a/ commonly makes fun of themselves and call themselves weeaboos anyway because they're self aware (for the most part).
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)20:16 No.35417826
"Oh I watch anime too, but I dont watch bleach/naruto/wathever, those series are too long and drag too much"
For some reason 99% of them don't ask what I watch instead, so my power level is securely hidden.

You seem personally affected by this a little too much for my liking.

In any case, refer to the post I was responding to for proper justification. As for the
    >do you really have so much free time that you can sit around and strategies the best way to antagonize the people who do?
line, telling people they're watching kiddie shows is a logical counter about as high up on the cunning scale as inserting "yer mum" after "you know what I want to do?". It's not something I sat down and thought about, it's just an effective piece of banter.

And yes, I am an arrogant elitist bastard and proud to admit it. Fuck your shit, I'm better than you and there's nothing you can do about it.

Back when I was in school I had an art class with this weeaboo girl. One day she asked if she could draw me (I'm guessing she asked me just because I was the only Asian in the class). When she finished I had kawaii eyes and was blushing.
Shit was so embarrassing. She turned it in to the teacher and got extra credit.

I seriously can't stand looking at the picture. It feels like my brain is forcing itself to process something a human brain can't possible comprehend, like when Shiki sees the lines on inanimate objects.
