Not trolling, why do you guys dislike VLC so much?

Is it genuine dislike due to previous experiences with it, or is it just a meme?

I use VLC for all my video watching and I've had no issues with it whatsoever. Prefer it to MPC.
    >> Anonymous 05/12/10(Wed)23:49 No.34740220
Because there is another free video player that's better yet people like you still use VLC?

i hate VLC because it has always performed like shit for me. Been using CCCP + Zoom Player and have had no problems at all.

if VLC works for you, then by all means continue using it

    Entirely different situtations.

    Way to fail at analogies.
    >> Anonymous 05/12/10(Wed)23:50 No.34740298
VLC is for streaming, MPC is for theatre.
    >> Anonymous 05/12/10(Wed)23:51 No.34740314
Because skipping sucks, it takes awhile to transition languages. freezes too damn much, and is a fucking hassle in general. MPC is much more simple to use and is reliable. I've tested it out on multiple computers, and even on Linux, VLC sucked ass. Mplayer was better
    >> Anonymous 05/12/10(Wed)23:51 No.34740325
I doubt you're going to get a straight answer here, OP. Honestly, I don't know what the big hate is either.

Maybe ask /g/? They've got a better chance of having a real answer than anyNEET here.

Not trolling, why do you guys dislike MACs so much?

Is it genuine dislike due to previous experiences with it, or is it just a meme?

I use MAC for all my video watching and I've had no issues with it whatsoever. Prefer it to PC.

it seems like we've all had problems with it at various times.
there's just so much shit that doesn't function the way it should and can be corrected by using MPC/zoom
    >> Anonymous 05/12/10(Wed)23:52 No.34740354
The video quality is worse, it doesn't play certain files, and the player will often mess up the timing between both the video and sound, as well as the video/sound and subtitles.

Why do you capitalise "mac" like it's an acronym?

    SMplayer is superior.

    Better usability in MPC
    Better configurations in MPC
    No built-in unstable codecs
Shitty ASS/SSA support (not sure if it's still persisting)
    >> !!walw6pK4Alo 05/12/10(Wed)23:53 No.34740411
It's all residual hate of when VLC could not properly display soft-subs.
    >> Anonymous 05/12/10(Wed)23:54 No.34740423
I have problems with both VLC and MPC. For me, VLC has more severe problems, and MPC just has lagging audio.
    >> Anonymous 05/12/10(Wed)23:54 No.34740435
VLC is actually best for playing corrupt files/files you just can't get to work for some reason

you can't fault it for that

I get horrible image tearing with it.
MPC runs the same shit perfectly fine.
aperintly the problem with VLC is my lack of RAM.

No, its not. Mcdonals and VLC are both enormouses pieces of shit which cater to the lowest common denominator. Like food, a video players have varying degrees of quality and are highly situational. Sure, you could use windows media player for MP3s, but that is fucking stupid. People don't use VLC for the same reason people don't use WMP, its bad. McDonals is terrible fattening. It it an enormous file, when compared to the compact file of most other players, makes it laughing considering the quality differences. The actual user interface is inferior in many ways, and i'm not going into detail on every single button. Needless to say, VLC is the bottom of the barrel. At least Windows media player has the excuse of being entry-level. Someone who uses VLC has obvious tried to find a new player, but failed in a variety of ways, yet you fags still proclaim it to be good simply because it works.
