In response to the OP's question about Kino's sexuality, it's made me wonder if she ever ended up in a country that's very much about sex and sex oriented traditions and even possibly participated in them.
But a helpful anon pointed that she would probably avoid such countries or simply not partake in the traditions. Plus, sexual encounters can create attachment, whether we want to or not, and Kino does look she might worry that she would be the kind to get attached, thus, she remains a virgin.

1. Young adult. We know nothing specific, and it's probably for the best.
2. Sexual preferences never really came up. There was the mad Prince's son, which she seemed to flirt with a bit, but I think she just values her freedom as a traveller more than anything else.
3. I'd be Kino just played with herself, like any other person. Sex builds attachment, which Kino seems to avoid.
4.That was from an episode I personaly discount. Lad of the Books was weird, man. Some folks say that Kino is actually that little girl; I personally dismiss the whole shebang as the writers running out of ideas
