To the people suggesting that Kyon is actually god, or alternatively that he is a completely normal human - he is neither:

Tachibana outright states in the 9th book that Kyon has the ability to transfer/assign the power Haruhi possesses, and that she therefore wants him to give it to Sasaki (who must have possessed it at a point before the current space-time continuum, as Haruhi's creation of the current world is a fact supported by people - Nagato and Asahina - who have the means to know this, and their counterparts have not disagreed). This is corroborated by Koizumi and Nagato's "improvised" dialogue in The Adventures of Asahina Mikuru Episode 00 - the key/door analogy during which Koizumi accidentallyonpurpose switches into third person. It's fair to assume that if Tachibana intrinsically knows this as an Esper, Koizumi must also.

It's also fair to assume that Nagato gained the power in book 4 in this way - it must have been from an outside source, as with her puppetmaster's hivemind nature it would have achieved its goal of "evolution of autonomy" were she able to replicate or steal Haruhi's power herself. Also that guy from Charmed at First Sight Lover was totally one of Nagato's Espers, who must exist is Sasaki's do.
