I browse /v/ a lot, pretty much as much as I browse /a/ and the people there are quite similar to the people browsing /a/. Despite the permanent hostility between the various console- and pc fags, there is a bit more harmony on /v/. Right now, it feels a bit like /a/ before the /jp/ split, but generally, there is a lot of destructive trolling on /a/ which doesn't happen on /v/ to that degree. /v/ has trolling, but it doesn't hinder conversation, it fuels it or provides entertainment. On /a/, there are a lot of threads simply being spammed instead of someone actually trolling with a bit of imagination. Sure, there is the occasional poster from /b/ who stumbles into /v/, but he usually has a much different taste in games than /v/ and is probably easily appalled by the hostility, so I don't think /v/ has that much of a problem in that regard.
