That's hardly ever been the case. Most scanlators offer DDL or online uploaded links like mediafire. Though most reliable place is to get it from is IRC.

Did you know before the whole online reader shit became popular, IRC was where you got 99% of your manga from? Its been around for many many years and it still there.

I'd rather take files I can save, rather than crappy compressed jpgs on an online reader that take ages to click through one by one.
