I decided to check out Gaia to see if it really was as bad as you guys always make it out to be.

Here's what I discovered, while a lot of the users are the stereotypical retard weeaboos, there are also many that have a power level that completely trumps the ones you see around here. Not only that, but the users tend to actually act more mature than /a/ ever does.

So do you guys just rag on them because it's cool or can you guys not grasp the notion that constantly being dicks to each other won't make this place nay better?
    >> Thelostcup !1cFi6ry2ks 04/16/10(Fri)15:31 No.33538901

The majority of users in their anime forum are complete faggots.
When I was on their I met a couple good people, but that was at least four years ago and I'm sure they've all moved on to 4chan.

The vast flood of immature tween faggots on the board trumps anything useful you might get out of it. Not to mention that their message boards go 3x faster than /a/ so you can't even hold a worthwhile conversation.

I gave it a fair shake for around 2 weeks a couple years ago and it was useless. Even when I did make a nice discussion reply, it was buried 3 pages back within 2 minutes. Or I would just get a reply back of "yea" or "I disagree" with nothing else. Only place the pace was slow enough to chat was like the politics board....
    >> Anonymous 04/16/10(Fri)15:41 No.33539274
To be honest, I have a Gaia. I use it to chat with the few people I met on there that are worth talking to, and roleplay fantasy when I get the writer's itch. I don't like the anime discussion there because alot of it is WHICH NARUTO CAHARCTER IS THE BEST?!?!?! or ICHIGO VS. LUFFY! or L IS SOOOO HAWT.

There's the rare topic about something good, but it's usually drowned out by the crap. Not worth touching. /a/ actually discusses the series relevant to my interests, or ... at least talks about something IN the series relevant to my interest, anyway...

The entire concept of Gaia is boring and pointless as fuck. At least now they have an MMO or something. There is no stimulation or purpose in spending money on an online avatar that does nothing, unless you have the mentality of a 12 year old. I have more fun with free DREAM AVY o.~ stuff that lets you just dress the thing up without it having anything to do with a user account or fucking play money.

That's because moderators don't do shit most of the time, so when they do it's celebrated. Also usually when they do something it's to publicly ban a hated tripfag.

It's hardly like if I said I HATE THE MODS, MODS ARE FAGS they'd ban me, unlike on a forum where all the users ignore you if you call a moderator out for being a faggot/clearly wrong. Then if you do it again you get banned. Forums suck.

The biggest difference between forums and 4chan in anonimity.
Yeah we have tripfags, some even have avatars be it trolls or not, but usually their circlejerk threads get saged to death, and they are considered faggots by the majory of the userbase.
On the other hand, you have forums, where mostly people crave for attention. An user with thousands posts there is considered to be fun, smart, awesome and whatnot, even though that person could be one of the biggest faggots ever born. Try interupting few of these users circlejerk thread, you'll either get banned or spammed by their cocksucking fans.
4chan is not gold either but atleast its better than the majority of forums.

another thing about anonymity is the assumptions you make about posts. on a forum with usernames, people have reputations they want to respect, so opinions people post are assumed to be true, although they are likely to be false in order for the user to "fit in" with the community.
With Anonymous posting, posts are generally assumed to be trolls unless proven otherwise, although people can more easily post their actual opinion.

Really I wish there was a female based 4chan, where all anons are assumed 18+ like here but also assumed female. It would be interesting to see how the demographic shift would effect the posts and subjects outside of single topic boards like /y/ or /cm/. in b4 generalizations
