Kyon was basically telling Yuki to fuck off and to stop caring about him. He talks about how he should stop relying on Yuki in order to prevent her from being too stressed, but really, he just realized that Yuki likes him, and he doesn't like her at all. The faggot.

I mean, so when Haruhi was a young girl, and Kyon went to Yuki's apartment, who was all in that apartment? Was Asakura there too, with her hotpot? Or was she really gone from that world, and not reconstructed as a backup again? While Kyon and Mikuru were sealed, Kyon came in with Adult Mikuru, then they left, then another Kyon came in from another time?

You know, at that moment when kyon and older mikuru came to yuki's apartment... how do i explain

mikuru said shes scared of yuki. i thought "wtf"
and then this moment. and i got fucking scared of yuki. because now we can compare her to the shy version and it is obvious that this one is _not human_. in the horror sence of the word.

i mean yes, we're used to that, but think about it again. its a program. it looks like a girl, but it isnt.

That's the reason why Mikuru feels so uneasy around her. Yuki's so advanced and powerful even compared to the transhuman time travelers. This, plus the fact that she knows about the Dec 18 incident, and probably even more of Yuki's exploits in the future. Also note how adult Mikuru was still amazed despite knowing about the time quake in advance.

You forgot "The Melancholy of Asahina Mikuru". Also, Intrigues is the longest book, so I think giving it 7 episodes (minus the prologue) would be better (Melancholy had 6). For me it would be:
    1. Charmed at First Sight LOVER
    2. Snow Mountain 1
    3. Snow Mountain 2
    4. Where did the cat go?
    5. The Melancholy of Asahina Mikuru
    6. Intrigues Prologue
    7. Intrigues 1
    8. Intrigues 2
    9. Intrigues 3
    10. Intrigues 4
    11. Intrigues 5
    12. Intrigues 7
    13. Editor in Chief 1
    14. Editor in Chief 2

Or, you could always cut Editor in Chief for the next season and end it at 12 episodes, + 1 Haruhi Theater (referenced in SMS).

I'd like to discuss this with you /a/:

It almost seemed like Yuki put Asakura in place of Haruhi on purpose to be her replacement for Kyon as a companion.

Does Yuki view Asakura as a part of her and vice-versa, and why Yuki doesn't have strong emotions because in a weird distanced way she already does through Asakura?

Basically, There are two times superimposed.

The reality, and the Yuki-verse. And even the Yuki-verse is split in two, the one where Kyon goes through the events of the film, and the other which is trasnformed back into the real one almost immediately.

See, there are two versions of the Yuki-verse. In the first version, she rewrites reality, then goes through the three days like that. The other version, she rewrites reality, then is immediatly stopped by the two Kyons.

Kyon has to go back to the second version of the Yukiverse on Dec 18, where his past version gets stabbed.

This is actually explained in my gif (Which no one can read, so I can't blame you for not knowing)

Yuki can ignore the normal flow of time, and her time travel does not have to create stable time loops (Everyone else does though). She injects Kyon and Mikuru with something (nanomachines I guess) that makes them both immune to the time fluctuations that should make them cease to exist.

Think the world is an operative system. The real world is the RTM version. What Youki does is install a Service Pack but let's an unistaller for Kyon (ENTER key program).
So you can restore your PC with the original RTM version and there is at every moment only a PC.

No, his theory was more like that the new timeline "overwrites" the old one as it happens.

If you think about his theory enough, you realize it's impossible.

Plus, if there is a parallel universe, it means that alt-Yuki is still alive and crushingly depressed.

I think that's preferable to what would happen if she remained alive.

She would try to kill herself after Kyon crushed her, and either succeed, or be rescued by Asakura who would proceed to place her in a state where she was incapable of hurting herself. Best case scenario she ends up in some sort of "And I Must Scream" form, worst case she ends up with her arms and legs cut off, unable to move or speak, kept alive by yandere-Asakura being yandere.

That is, does she erase the 'normal' world by overwriting it with her own (twice), or does she forcefully move everyone into a new dimension that she created, recreating their memories as well, leaving the 'normal' universe empty for the timespan of a few nanoseconds?

No, I mean how all the dialogue gets its own line, when the part that actually indicates who is talking, which should go in that paragraph, doesn't.

The tanbata was outside of the bubble of Yuki's change, so no matter where the time travelers came from, that timeplane STILL experienced their presence.

So even though the Yukiverse eliminated Kyon and Mikuru's departure during BLR, the past still experienced their arrival.

    Okay, so I'm right.

But see, what I think is that the only thing that would clear up the implied contradiction here is if, during that time, the "normal" future still existed even though it shouldn't have.

    This :(

Just imagine... First, Yuki had to stay on stand-by for 3 fucking years. Then, endure 595 years of Haruhi's endless summer bullshit. Just imagine her frustration and tiredness...

She deserves so much more.. just why did she let that fucktard Kyon choose which universe he wants to stay in.

    >>33366337
that is because Haruhi's memories diverge from the original starting the last year of middle school. (that's the timeframe Nagato changed) She still met John Smith. This occurence is a fixed point in the overall timeline.

    >>33366314
Because everything that happened in the past, is past. It already happened. We only get to see Kyon's point of view. When we first saw him go back in Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody, there were already all time-traveling versions of everyone there. The alt-reality is actually a paradox. Because it happened, Kyon destroyed it. But he did so when it actually was made, so it should never have been there to begin with.

Now that is a little bit of a mindfuck.

Basically because she didn't change tanabata, the time travellers were still there, having travelled into the past, however the future they came from didn't exist?

Well, it's just that I'm trying to wrap my mind around something.

You mean that when Kyon went back in time the first time with Mikuru, before they were frozen in Yuki's bedroom for three years, all this was going on? So, when they went back in time, their old world was effectively destroyed and rebuilt from scratch in three years' time? Did anything happen to them while they were frozen? Were they changed when the part changed, since they were in the past, just frozen? Or, when freezing them , they were taken out of the flow of time?
    >> Anonymous 04/12/10(Mon)17:58 No.33366610

I guess that clarifies why Kyon didn't disappear from tanabata after he eliminated the Yukiverse.

    >>33366553

But here's the thing: I think that future DID exist. It shouldn't have, but it did. But see, after you reach the point where Yuki changed things, that future doesn't exist anymore.

But it's not a parallel universe either.

    2. During the year's effect of the reality change, they were not frozen in that room, but rather, non existant.

Kyon goes back in time w/ Asahina(little)'s help. He paints the field with middleschool Haruhi and tells her he's John Smith. He then goes to Yuki's and gets put into a three year hypersleep-type thing

He wakes up, continues life as normal. Shit happens, December rolls around, he goes back in time to see if shit changed back then. It didn't, and past-Yuki explains that the change happens a few days before he returned.

Kyon goes, tells Haruhi to watch over John Smith and then goes forward in time with Asahina(big) to the time right before Yuki changes everything. Kyon attempts to shoot her with the vaccine-gun-thing, but Asakura stops him. Asahina(little) from the future, Yuki from the future and himself from the future come save him and apply the vaccine to the Yuki with the errors. He then wakes up a couple days later after Yuki has fixed everything.

I'm going to remake that gif now. Thing is, I made it in Flash on another computer, so I don't want to change things until I know my explanation is right.

So here's the million dollar question. There are two possible explanations here.

    1) Yuki did not change the past, just the present (and therefore the future), and everyone's memories. This makes Mikuru's past actions a paradox since the future she came from did not exist.

2)Yuki actually changed the past, but Tanabata was not changed. Mikuru and Kyon were frozen in time up until the change, at which point they weren't, because they didn't need to be, because they had never gone back in time in the first place at that point. The thing is, this theory relies on the fact that there were two futures happening at the same time in the same universe.

So, what'll it be? Easy to understand but causes a paradox, or impossible to understand but doesn't cause a paradox.
