Seeing how the current [a/non userbase seems to favor health > skeleton, at least judging from that particular thread, I thought I'd post this really heartwarming one-shot.
Speaking of which, what happened to the tripfag who used to post great one-shots every day?

As an American, this comic troubles me. People who grew up in the 90s were brought up with a bunch of pro-self-esteem BS, so seeing a comic that straight up says being fat makes you ugly is difficult to digest.

I'm completely serious, all "lol americunts r fat" aside.

    Problem?
If you are obese its better to start of limiting your intake of food and liquid(exception water). Which will force the stomach to shrink in size as it carves for the usually fatty diet...
After a while you could start a normal diet while you train or do some activities, just to ensure no more stretching...

actually, this is a pretty accurate portrayal of what fat people go through. As much as you wish the world is made of sugar and rainbows, society always says that "if you are fat you are ugly and disgusting, no exceptions". That's just how it is. Instead of crying about it, it's better to try and fix the problem isn't it? That's why this one-shot is so heartwarming.

Not the first anon, but 1000 calories is a pretty drastic jump from a normal diet, especially if you have a record of failed diets already. Exercise + moderate eating would be a healthier way to go about it.

I can see how that would be difficult to digest, but then again, few people find fat, I mean real overweighness, to be attractive. And really, this story isn't speaking 'the truth', it's just what the characters in it think for themselves.

Yeah, story was heartwarming but completely unrealistic. 1000 cal diet would have your blood sugar crashing out at their weight, causing weakness and the shakes.

Plus they'd be hunger panging all the time. Most fat people are fat because they have low self-discipline in ignoring hunger pangs.

of course, I get where you're coming from. I was never that obese, but I was close to it for quite a while. Like the girl in the story, my family had a tendency to overfeed so I was probably taking in far more calories than I needed to be. It's fairly depressing to be even slightly overweight in American society.

I was tired of being bummed out about weight, so I started eating less (and for those wondering about dropping to a 1000 calorie diet, it is entirely do-able and do-able immediately, especially if a lot of physical activity is not involved), walking around more, and ignoring snack foods. I never gave up eating what I liked to eat, I just ate less of it. Dropped around 20 pound this year (my first year of college) so I could fit in size 12 jeans, and I can probably fit into 10 given a bit more time. 10 is my goal, I don't intend to get much thinner than that.

This manga does bring up a nice point: for some people, making a change is very difficult to do alone. I'd love to work harder to lose weight but I have no one to do it with/help with motivation. No motivation? Can't do shit.

Yeah, I have to say its small but think of it, even if you lower the intake of daily based calories. Your fat, stored by your own body due to, you can't burn the food you ate for sometime ago or so. Will start to kick on, so lowering the calorie intake will force the user to do small things and drink more water but not too much water, since that will let the stomach to stay in its current state. I have experience I used to weigh alot...

It won't help, go outside and take a long walk instead. I roamed around my university campus aimlessly with a friend just talking from 8 pm to 11 pm, I couldn't believe how much we'd walked and how fast it went buy. Erm, I'm having trouble parsing your explanation there, so forgive me if I misunderstood, but while lowering calorie intake will definitely make you lose weight, it's the least healthy method and requires the greatest discipline (which other anons have pointed out, is very hard to maintain).
