    reposting Frenchfag's whatevers

    Vit l'infini

    Savoure l'harmonie du ciel
    Vois que tout est essentiel
    Il comprend que toi aussi

    his "translation"

Would you like to see something in this world disappear?
And the air be purer, the heart of Men changed.
And yet everything is so fragile here, on the Earth
There is nothing futile, you know...

On one side grumpy and sometimes prodigious
And on the other, poor wolfs and often monstrous
No matter what your heart will dictate you, remember
That difference be born in your eyes

Sing all the colors of the world
    Without missing any note
    Everything has a place here
    Every emotion form the symphony
    Of our life

Savor the harmony of the sky
    See that everything is essential
    He understand that you too
You want to write the melody

Do you like to see again the writing of this world ?
And choose his colors to make your own painting
Take the good, the bad, and without sorting out, accept
Without covering your eyes, to look up

Joy and misfortune only make one
    Everything is in their destiny
From every laugh a sorrow is born
In every voice, in every noise
    Live the infinite

Savor the harmony of the sky
    See that everything is essential
    He understand that you too
    Are writing this melody

This is one of those shows that fails the good story test.

If you replaced all of the main characters with 30 year old men, no one would watch it.

It's better than Strike Witches but not by much. It's basically K-On! with some fake depth added by scenery.

And all the speculation proved unnecessary because nothing really happened.

    Terrible show.

in their defense, it's to test the flexibilities of a story. However since a lot of stories are male-centric I fail to see how this method could cover these stories.

But in defense of this story, we never dealt with the problems that concern with being a "female." As we see there was no sign of sexism at all within the universe. Colonel Hopkins not once said, you're a bunch of bitches and whores and not worthy of being a soldier.

On one side, the good is sometimes in your eyes.
On one side, the good is sometimes prodigious.

It's a really poor metric to begin with. Story has been irrelevant for centuries, if not millennia; every plot has been done before. The thing that sets a work apart is the presence of unique and interesting characters, and if you can substitute in a cast of 30-year-old men without a loss of quality, it means that the original cast was probably lacking in depth in the first place.

Of course, the people using said test to decide what to watch wouldn't know either way, since they're testing their own preconceptions of a series and not the series itself.

SnW at first we definitely all believed these characters were cookie-cutter archetypes. Of course, now we see them as something completely different. This changed due to the character interactions, and story that surrounded them. It's the story that makes the character unique.

I'd say the '30 year old men' trick has only a very narrow field of use.

The only thing it can do: It shows you whether it's character based or plot based (or kinda both).

Only cause a show would suck if you exchange the gender/age of certain characters doesn't mean it sucks in general. It just means that a certain part of characteristics wouldn't match up.

For some reason everyone has completely missed the point of what that post was meaning. Here's a better way of putting it: replace every character with a girl who is not particularly attractive.

This show was full of speculation because everyone wanted to believe it was "deep," but in the end it's not deep at all. And don't give me that bullshit about how the show is character driven. The characters are the most stereotypical, generic characters possible. Here look:
    -Kind-hearted but simple girl
    -Tsundere loli girl
-"Cool" older sister type of girl
-Very nice motherly type of girl
    -Rei character type

Look, the show wasn't horrible. It was better than most moe shows, but everyone needs to stop acting like Shii and pretending like this is the deepest, best anime ever while jacking off to scenes of them in their underwear.

no one ever said it was deep. It's just interesting to talk about since there is no novel/manga. And then they intentionally place a lot of exposition and stuff in the background for us to ponder at.

    also

-a young soldier who has a problem with idolization.
-an experienced vet who has ptsd who wants to protect the younger soldiers in his squad
-a soldier who is running away from his duty
-an engineer who created something horrible in the past
-an soldier who's blind optimism leads him through the darkest times.

    and

the young soldier also wants to be hardcore. And while the rest were being laxed he was being a tight ass. But that was not really who he was.

The engineer had problems with getting close to others until the new recruit showed up.

The soldier running away from his duties was a total fuck up always messes shit up when push comes to shove.

But it *is* a character driven show. It's true the story takes a backseat to developing each character (quite well), but it was always pretty slice-of-lifey to begin with.

Pic related, it's another stereotypical character-driven war drama. It won THE Oscar and didn't even have girls peeing their pants.

The ending did surprise me. Not the fact that it was a happy end, but the fact it was 100%, unambiguously happy. The rest of the show was all "happy things, sad things" etc but ep12 came up roses for everybody.

The ending resonated until that goddamn freeze frame. I feel like something was missing; even Hopkins trying to snipe Kanata, and being killed by Filicia or Noel, would have been less cliche.

No, I was expecting a good end, but I was also expecting some kind of darkness to it. All the other episodes have had ups and downs. Other than the global issues from past eps nothing went wrong at all, really. They even brought back the only character to leave the show, the only one wounded made a good recovery.

I was just a little surprised, that's all. I liked it.

It would've been a lot better if J.C. Staff had gotten the ending of the Railgun manga's Sisters arc from the author and simply adapted that for the second half of the anime, but J.C. Staff being J.C. Staff, they decided to do an entire second half of filler, then leave in a clue pointing towards the possibility of a second season involving the Sisters arc. (It's a very subtle clue, though, and only someone who pays attention to the dates on the title pages of each chapter of the Railgun manga, as well as paying attention to the date on the clock in Harumi's hospital room in the last episode of the anime, would notice it.)

I'm trying to get an idea of what SnW music albums are currently in circulation. There's the Kalafina single, the AI JOU YU JOU single, and Kanata's character single. What else?

Is that a single or did someone cut those from the OST?

they're not singles. they're part of the ost.
someone two or three threads ago found them on youtube.

I hope when Night Raid comes out people objectively review it before starting thread chains/charts/whatever. I'd hate to see SnW fans keeping this stuff going just because it's the next anime in the timeslot.

not everyone is moving on to Night Raid.

    keep your chin up
these threads are proof that civil discussion on /a/ exists
and at the very least, snw fans definitely won't go BAWW IT'S NOT LIKE SORA NO WOTO AT ALL

It's by the same people, and created for the same purpose(Strength of Anime). We aren't excited about it simply because it's in the same timeslot.

I think most of us except for the clinically retarded all knew this going in...

Is Sora no Woto any good? Worth the bandwith?
