Nisio Isin is better than Ryohgo Narita.
Bakemonogatari has more lovable characters, creative dialogue, and interesting plot. Ryogo Narita is only good for writing about characters, but his plot writing skills are pretty weak. Unlike Nisio Isin who can write both interesting characters and interesting plot at the same time.

Senjougahara > Celty

It also has better character designs and fanservice. The anime also has the best voice acting unlike DRRR.

Also, the directing of the anime. Durarara's directing is kinda boring and cliche with the bland character introduction and the narration with each episode. It's just all about "This character relates to this character".
While Bakemonogatari's directing stays creative with creative dialogues and animations it makes the audience doesn't get bored with character interactions. Each episode is also about different girl with different problem. Totally more interesting plot served in episodic ways.
Akiyuki Shinbo is clearly better than Takahiro Omori.

The artstyle is better too. Durarara's artstyle is generic it can be found in any other anime out there, while Bakemonogatari's artstyle is minimalism. Making it unique and different than other anime.

Pokemon is the only "anime" I can remember from being stuck with the American Forces Network (AFN) while my dad was stationed in Germany. GOD, AFN SUCKED. When we moved to Florida in late 2000, I got introduced to Toonami, and Dragon Ball Z. Fuck yeah, DBZ. This show changed my life.

In all honesty, I can't tell you how much I loved every second of this episode, as it rolled along as first a masterpiece in situation comedy, and then a beautiful study of blossoming yet akward first love.

Bakemonogatari has one of those special things that make it really unique among even the best anime. Its refreshingly original, with cliche-busting characters, excellent writing, witty, has the breakdown of character archetypes, but re-builds them in interesting new ways. Not to mention its very stylistic, good cinematography, great art etc etc. I could go on, but those the general ideas on why I think its awesome. I can guarantee you that this anime will become a major influence on all the animes to come. And thats what I consider anime of the decade, it has enough influence to change people's view on the industry, and the industry itself.

If I had to try to quantify how great the animation is, a comparison comes to mind because of the current chatter in the blogosphere. Remember how awed you were when you watched Haruhi back in the spring of 2006; the animation of Bakemonogatari makes me feel like that but in comparison to today’s shows. Yes, some of it is because of Shinbo’s unique visual stylings but I’ve watched several of his shows so that part is hardly new.

Bakemonogatari's speciality was the dialogue, especially the back and forth conversations between Araragi and Senjougahara, which was pure gold. Previously, I thought Spice and Wolf had the best dialogue. However, Araragi x Senjougahara managed to take the witty, playful and teasing nature in their relationship to a new level that Horo x Lawrence initially introduced back in 2007.

Maybe the best anime I've ever seen.

This anime is not an action thriller. There are some very intense moments though. Every character, and there are not many of them, have been affected by some mysterious supernatural phenomena. What makes this anime stand out is the great personalities of the characters, the great dialouge, the dark forboding feel of lurking evil throughout the show, and most importantly the unique and beautiful animations sytle. I feel like I am Iooking at paintings of a famous artist throughout the entire show. Musically, the ending theme is one of my all time favorites. I really hope they continue this show for more seasons. It's brilliant.

Perhaps the most similar show to Bakemonogatari is Serial Experiments LAIN. Whereas that show subverted the cyberpunk genre to talk about solipsism, this one subverts the horror genre to talk about figuring out what it means to be in love. The staff of the two shows appear to be disjoint sets, but in several areas they made very similar choices: both use looping, monotonous visuals as a stylistic effect, both only really make sense after viewing the whole thing and thinking a bit. Both use non sequiter and static scenes to set a tone. Stylistically, the biggest difference is that Bakemonogatari is more stylized about it all. Given that LAIN came out a decade prior and pioneered these style choices, that is acceptable.
