Over the past 48 hours 4chan's formspring page has gotten over 12,000 questions, and I've received over 3,000 e-mails. Many thanks to everyone who submitted a question, and sent me a message! I was able to respond to a few hundred e-mails and had hoped to start answering questions on formspring, but it seems that the number of questions broke the page. Once that's sorted out, I'll sift through them and answer as time allows.
Thanks again for all of the support!

In other news, /rs/ now processes MediaFire/MegaUpload/and a bunch of other links correctly (this had been broken for months). The old links should be updated in about a week (the checker is taking a while).
Thanks to Popcorn Mariachi for spontaneously appearing and fixing this.

I've been showing some people Neon Genesis Evangelion for the last 2 days. Right now, we are on episode 20.

It's really funny. They actually got together to try and figure out the plot twists. So far, they have come to the conclusion that Rei is Shinji's sister. I do my best not to smile. Man, these last few episodes are gonna be fun.

This is what I hate about Evangelion. If Anno had just taken a little more effort and actually explained the plot of the series at some point, everyone would love it and it wouldn't be so controversial.

NGE is the show everyone loves to hate. That friend I was talking about? He put off watching it for months because all my other anime-watching friends told him not to watch it. I had to personally upload the series to his hard drive when he wasn't looking to get him to watch it. Then he found he didn't have the right codecs. I had to convince him to "let me try" using VLC on his computer and installed it when he wasn't paying attention.

Why do I even bother?

Rei is more like a half sister to Shinji because she is cloned from his mother but much of her DNA also comes from Lilith. They couldn't possibly be EXACT genetic matches given that Rei is part angel and has BLUE hair instead of brown and SICKLY WHITE skin instead of PEACH.

Shinji's DNA comes from Yui and Gendo.
Rei's DNA comes from Yui and Lilith.

The difference between human-flesh and Angel-flesh and which one Rei is composed of? Whether trees and whatnot should get tanged, since they're composed of LCL and originated from Lilith? Shapeshifting would actually use a lot of DNA coding I would expect, as you'd be rapidly altering your gene expressions and causing extremely rapid cell death and genesis (or totipotent cell alteration).

Lasers? Well not much in application but in order to grow your laser emitting organs and the power source for them I would expect that would have to be coded somewhere in your DNA.

Point is, they're organic life that generate new proteins(?) so they need SOME sort of coding. Even if it is not DNA in our understanding of it, NERV's scientists wanted an angel and they certainly got it down precise enough for Rei to merge with Lilith's "corpse".

Also... who ever said Angels do not reproduce sexually? They may have been created by a higher power or life form that created the white and black eggs, but who knows whether or not they were designed to breed? Certainly there is this the evocation of Christianity in naming them Angels but they clearly aren't following the rules of Christian Angels (closer to Jewish ones really, ha ha ha). Even if they were designed to be sexually sterile, they were created by a higher power so they may have been genetically modified members of that race(?) or made from other life experimented on by that race or created from scratch using organic genetics.

IIRC it's implicitly stated that they get their fantastic powers because their form comes from how they imagine themselves to be. It's a central concept of NGE, revealed at the very end, that humans' self-image is what allows them to exist, and I figure it's the same for Angels.

So this weekend I rewatched all of Eva to watch EoE. I watched it with VLC, because I prefer it when soft subs are not involved. Fuck man, I watched EoE hoping that it would clear shit up IT JUST MADE THE WHOLE FUCKING SERIES MORE COMPLICATED, I AT LEAST UNDERSTOOD THE TV ENDING. And to add insult to injury the fucking program froze up in full screen. It's like my computer went WTF? along with me.

God damn does the manga help explain shit or am I stuck watching the Rebuild movies too?
