Sakuga in Japanese refers to the "key animation". As many people know most anime is made in the "Limited Animation" style, in which very few movements are made.

Thus Sakuga anime is anime that is animated very well.

I suspect this list is being made to point out series which are made with excellent animation in mind, which wouldn't cover the Naruto series, despite have some fantastic animation and one of the best effects animators (Norio Matsumoto).

Maybe the chart should include a section for animators to watch out for as well.

I don't get it. What makes Gunbuster worthy of this list, GunbusterFags? It really isn't the best example of traditional mecha animation. In fact, it's pretty standard stuff. Gainax got much better during the 90's.

Actually, Monster was pretty low budget and suffered from QUALITY early on. Its a great series but I don't think it's well animated.

With Gainax, FLCL, Diebuster and TTGL all have their own page with animator listings for each episode. Gunbuster doesn't have its own page in the SakugaWiki, so I thought it wasn't remarkable enough.
