Jap with english subs, watch it the way it was meant to be watched

The ending of Paprika is really cheesy and kind of ruins the whole film for me.

If you're talking about the dark haired girl getting with the fat guy, I actually thought it was the ideal relationship. The 'guys gets the girl trope' was subverted that way, and I liked it. Remember when that crazy chase scene was going on, and the detective saved her? And then they kissed on top of the building, in front of the sunset? I believe that scene was put in to show the viewers what a cliched pairing the detective with the dark haired girl would have been.

Beautiful animation and soundtrack but horrid plot and characters (aside from the cop guy). Satoshi Kon's worst film; it was so disappointing. Watch Perfect Blue or Tokyo Godfathers next.

I watch most jap with eng subs. Sometimes though, like with Ghibli movies, the Eng dub can be just as good if not better.

It kinda depends. Subs are usually the safer bet, though, American/English VAs are usually bottom of the barrel material. I'm a fan of the Cromartie, Bebop and FLCL dubs, but not much else.

Shit wasn't meant to be watched with subs. If you want to talk about the way it was meant to be watched then shouldn't you learn Japanese?

You should watch the dub, it's done very nicely, and when they speak gibberish it's a lot funnier when you understand the native tongue during that part.

I've seen this movie before in the Smithsonian Cherry Blossom Anime Festival. Satoshi Kon actually came to see the movie with the audience and basically said that this film is like a roller coaster. A roller coaster that will display an array of images and mind screws. This film is like that.

Don't try to analyze what is going on in the film and just enjoy the roller-coaster.
