Forget the last two episodes - and I mean erase them from your memory. It's a filler ending that came around because the anime's budget was cut to almost nothing. It NEVER happened.

You can ignore Death and Rebirth, too; it's mostly clips of the anime and previews of End of Eva, meant to link the two together. It's got some new music, but other than that it's not important AFAIK.

Watch End of Eva, of course. It's the end Anno wanted to make (or so they say; they also say Anno made it as a big "fuck you!" to the people who hated the anime's end, and that makes sense too).

Next, read Evangelion Re-Take. It's a doujin, but it's fucking awesome and the sex takes a back seat to the story. It'll blow your mind. It's in six parts, though, so make sure you read it all.

Finally, watch 1.0. After that, watch 2.0 - the only available video is a shitty camrip and there's no subs, but if you've watched the anime (and read the synopsis for the movie) you'll understand it for the most part.

Feel free to skip Death and Rebirth if you want. It basically just reviews the series from an ariel perspective along with the first half of EoE. Also, feel free to rewatch the series ending after you watch EoE. It will make a lot more sense.

Towards the end, you get repeated frames or still frames for 2-5 minutes straight, culminating in the pencil drawings and slideshow final two episodes.

You should have been expecting a horrible ending the moment the quality really started to get affected by the budget.

But yes, go watch end of evangelion to tie up the story. Even if it is yet more ANNOOOO bullshit, it gives an ending and has pretty good animation.

EoE was shit for me too. i mean, it did have more action scenes so it atleast makes up for the bullshit they pulled with the last two episodes, but it still makes no fucking sense whatsoever.
