Why do some of you exclusively watch anime/read manga?

I mean there are a lot of great movies, television, comics from other countries out there too. I see no reason to stick with one country.

i dislike 3D actors and manga/anime is about the only format that takes 'cartoons' seriously

There are quite a few comics out there that are quite serious.

I think /a/ has a lot to do with it. I mean I'm constantly trying to keep up with /a/ so I don't have a lot of time for other stuff.

I don't even play video games much anymore.

Because only the japanese have a good supply of new shows every month a few here and there from other countries is easy to miss and not much to build a hobby on.

To be honest I can't even say a single animated show from another country that is really good.
    >> Anonymous 02/01/10(Mon)11:39 No.30472088
Yes, I do enjoy everything you listed. I don't think much of superhero comics in general because they read like Naruto in terms of quality but I thought the Watchmen is good, and Batman can be good, mostly because of the Joker

I sometimes watch tv but the list of things I enjoy is very short. I also read books rather than manga.

Anime is easier to download, especially older stuff.
    That's the only reason.

That movie is awesome. It's like Monster

I know no other comic style than manga(korean is fine 2) that I manage to enjoy. As for story, All american comics I've read so far other than V for vendeta has been terribly boring and unintressting. But yea, there's great movies out there as well.

Yeah but it ended in 1995. There is a gap between Western and Japanese cartoons. Japanese cartoons aren't the glorious, super deep philosophical masterpieces some of the people around here seem to think they are but there is definitely a very large gap and there has been for 20+ years. On the movie and especially comic front the gap isn't as wide. I cannot think of a single non comedic Western cartoon series that is blatantly aimed at a 16+ audience (and I'm not talking about sex and gore).

I like anything with a good story. It doesn't matter where it came from as long as I can believe that "wow I can totally understand everything"
