    >Otaku
    >These folks are totally obsessed with Japan and its anime culture, collecting all sorts of figurines of either huge-breasted fantasy girls or shy-looking schoolgirls and having bookshelves full of manga books and anime DVDs. They replace normal social interactions with hours spent fantasizing about a world that doesn't actually exist. Sad would be the word for it.

How do you feel about this, /a/?
    >> Anonymous 12/31/09(Thu)19:46 No.29259850
Pretty accurate for japanese, not so for typical /a/non. What is this buy they speak of?

Like that anyone can type anything they want on the Internets. Where are you getting at OP?

A cool-kid website using blanket statements and misconceptions to stereotype otaku subculture?

Feels blasé, man. Like this doesn't happen at least once a month...

Well, making the equivalent of a blog post about different stereotypes of geeks and rehashing old jokes in order to beat a few dead horses is super respectable, right?

I think the author doesn't really know what he's talking about. The word he'd be looking for is weeaboo, the term otaku hardly even applies in correct context to anime viewers outside of Japan. Were it not for the first 'attribute', his description would apply more strongly to japanese otaku.

It's not. You've apparently never read a textbook either. They usually like to keep things objective.
