It's basically an yotsuba comic-edit so use the manga to reference, I would like an story of Yotsuba&! normally on her everyday life but for some reason(school, bored, I don't know how to fill the blands) she wants to plan a tree, but as she is about to she hears Japan's soil are terrible and basically sucks dry any seed, so Yotsuba being who yotsuba needs any idea to make sure the seed doesn't die, she gets it, and later comes back with a four leaf clover for good luck of the future three, she buries it, and once she's done she goes lalala somewhere. later time passes Yotsuba or somebody else notices the big tree that grew, I would like the tree to be name "4chan".

I copy visible reference pictures all the time. Still, personally, I believe that taking the foundation of what is aesthetically pleasing, accurate, and the basic knowledge of what-goes-where through studying basic skills is more conducive to fostering your own style.

Still, everyone's different. I don't like on-model art so much, so I don't aspire to draw things that look "just like X or Y". Appreciate the advice though.

I was going to practice using Loomis's figure drawing book.

But the issue is I never know when the stop.
Whenever I practice something, I always keep at it until I get it perfectly.

As such, I was drawing square proportions for months.
Do I just keep at a part until I understand the concept and then move on?

This, most people start out drawing what they believe it looks like without realizing it. They say stuff like "Man, I suck, I can never draw as good as you!" They don't understand that you really need to look and study what your drawing before you can truly create something from your imagination.

So, I basically just copy stuff out of manga and when I try OC I take elements from different chars/manga and try to work shit out. But so far all I can do is draw faces since I'm shit at anatomy. Do I really need to study that stuff to be decent? I think I'm too lazy for that.

I remember back when I was first watching anime trying to draw DBZ characters. All I did was attempt to copy an image of them as best I can. I still absolutely suck at drawing anything in my head; I'm slightly less sucky at drawing something I'm looking at. Whenever I doodle, which is rare, I never actually try to draw something that is real. I just make odd abstract shapes and such. I really suck at realizing the actual perspectives and angles and shading and whatnot on real life objects.

I usually try to finish the lineart in one or two times, because I'm reluctant to continue working on it. Coloring is fun as hell though. As I mentioned before, my images aren't really vectors. When coloring, the shape of the color is a mask and I use giant brushes, which is fun to do.
