Actually, the opening sold the show to me as a story about girls who have a dream, and then GET SHIT DONE.

And then all the show went on to do is prove that girls are fucking useless. I've never been so disappointed in an anime since Haruhi S2.

What do you think would've made K-on better? I think that if they actually became a popular and successful band and went on tour and stuff... it would've been too cheesy and cliche. I think the theme of the club bringing friends together is good, but I guess it would've been better if they played more music and had more interesting slice-of-life situations and conflicts.

The main target audience of this show were not little girls, more like creepy 20-30 year old otaku Japanese men.

Had some of my best times on /a/ thanks to this show.

Making the fourth live watching thread in 20 minutes because they kept hitting the bump limit faster than you can read them was awesome.

And it didn't help that everyone I watched before, turned into a pilot of shit halfway.
So K-ON! having little to no HEAVY REFERENCES TO OTHER ANIME, not much of a plot to fuck up, and charming characters made me really enjoy it. True, the anime dragged some jokes along (Mio isn't that scared of everything), but it was passable.
Naturally, I wish they had more of a focus on music, but they got off 4 songs or so in 13 episodes. Good enough for me, since they just started

i always thought KyoAni always drew the strangest faces. eyes too far apart/towards sides of the head, I guess (Air, Haruhi)
but I really liked the art style in K-On, really soft and it felt so smooth

I love it when a minority demographic (like girls in this case) are blissfully unaware of the fact that the show is for creepy otaku.

One of the reasons why I started watching anime in the first place, because the TV companies in my country aired shows in kids timeslots that were really not meant for kids.
