Utena is good, but not really THAT much of a classic.

It's a rather fabulous version of the usual monster-of-the-week setup and has a lot random imagery to cover up the fact that it shamelessly abuses the same set of stock footage in every goddamn episode.

This was never really all that good. It had really no point and pretended to be DEEP when it really wasn't. Nothing ever got revolutionized, the ending was ambiguous, made progress, and there were way too many back stabling cunts especially that traitorous twat Anthony. am I the only one who saw Utena as a kind of twisted metaphor for Jesus? During the whole series, she was the only character who seemed to be fighting for noble reasons, but then died a horrible agonizing death via all those terrible swords. Immediately. I also got the Nanami egg metaphor immediately. But I saw this because of 4chan, not before it, so the tendency to interpret every mundane thing sexually put swaths of this anime into easy mode. It's not all sex but that tends to be the key element.
