The purpose of training and do things repeatedly is to gain proficiency. To burn it into your muscle memory as to ensure you can behave correctly in battle.
What happened was the newbies, instead of training, decided to practice something unrelated instead.

Essentially, they were suppose to train their basic skills, but they got impatient and tried to go into advanced tactics instead when they aren't ready.

Why do musicians practice scales? Because even though you aren't going to play them in a concert, it improves your technical precision.

The dialogue and Nanoha's acknowledgment of her mistakes as an instructor was what fixed things and got Tia back on her feet.

That's what leadership is about. Its not about throwing your weight around and being as overbearing as possible, its about ensuring that the people that are under you are effective and, if possible, have high morale. It can mean throwing your weight around and being overbearing when you're dealing with a slacker or someone that has a problem with authority, but Tia just wanted to get back on the field and be her best, and was frustrated that she was being put on the back burner. You can yell about justification and coddling all you want, but that's petty. Pettiness is destructive and has no place in a position of authority. That was the time to be calm and tell her that dialogue will have to wait, followed by discussion to see what course of action would be best in order to bring her back to her peak.

The problem was that she was subdued by a trap that she broke out of so easily, and she looked weak prior to that.

Yeah, Lutecia, Elio, and Caro were boring and superfluous and should have been cut. There also need to be much more screentime for the Numbers.

Revamped version should cover episode 1, the Tia arc, the introduction of the Numbers (preferably before the Tia arc), and episodes 16+. Everything else should be either cut or condensed. Starter Stars and some of the more interesting sound stage stuff should be included. More screentime and details for the Numbers. That should make for 25 well-paced episodes with no utterly forgettable episodes and gaping holes that leave things to be desired.

I don't think that the Numbers' powerlevels are ever explicitly stated. The closest thing is Dr. Spaghetti bragging about Cinque beating an S-Rank knight (Zest) one-on-one.

That said, Sette is kind of implied to have a good deal more experience than the other Numbers, and Tre definitely does, so it's probably safe to say that they're bigger threats than Nove/Wendi/Deed.

I hated StrikerS for the sudden genre shift, and how they were trying to shove all these new characters in the viewers' faces as if they were saying, "This is Nanoha's show but forget about her because this is not really her show." The creators are trying to get Nanoha herself out of the way (I guess they ran out of ideas) for characters I personally can care less about.

Caro is Nanoha, trying to befriend opponent Lutecia (Fate). GARyuu plays the Arf, for he is fiercely loyal to his loli, and is visibly displeased when Quattro, who is the Precia, forces Lutecia to continue fighting. Then Caro summons Starlight Breaker Dragon and beamspams everything until it stops moving.

A lot of the complaints that it gets are legitimate, but it has its redeeming qualities, too.

I don't think that it ever gets really horrible, it just wastes time on things that should have been saved for the supplementary manga and sound stages (like history lessons and training routines) while saving things that should have been in the anime (like development for the Numbers) for the supplemental manga and sound stages. That's its single biggest flaw.

Like the rest of Nanoha, it'd probably be better marathoned, too.
