Shit and naruto/wan piss fags. Also, hide your power level. Bring say maybe $200 if you plan to spend a lot. If it's more than one day and you want a lot more than $200 in stuff, buy what you think/know will sell out. That is all.

    1. It'll be fun. Make sure to print out your convention schedule and make sure that you know which panels you want to attend, what time, and the best way to maneuver from one panel to the next. Include vendor time and panel autographs into your calculations (over estimate by about an hour on vendor time in particular).

    2. Umm... all that you have. Try to donate plasma for extra cash before you go.
    >> Anonymous 10/16/09(Fri)22:10 No.26513512
visit some panels you find interesting

I've been to anime conventions before over the past two years. If you're going to one bring at least $300 for the entire weekend. If you're planning to stay at a hotel, bring another $300 (Unless you're rooming with someone, then your costs will be lowered significantly.)

    OP here

Here is the situation this is the very first time they are having a convention in missouri and it is located right in the city i live in so i dont need to worry about traveling expenses as it only takes 15 minutes for me to get there. I thinking about bringing $150-200. What should i do about my powerlevel though, should i let it out slighty to show i know my shit or should i go all out and start caramelldansen when it is played and allow myself to release it all so i can be able to hide it for another year

It depends really. I'd say go with the 'slowly' part, only because most people who show their power level all at once are kind of annoying fags, who think shit like Hetalia, Bleach and Naruto are the best thing ever.

As for money, it depends on what you want to buy. Normally what I do is make a list of things I want (posters, t-shirts, etc) and see what they have there. Normally my budget is about $300 for all three days, but that also includes con food for snacks (even though most places have overpriced food courts)

    Define powerlevel.
    >> Anonymous 10/16/09(Fri)22:48 No.26514853
    >>26514629

Power level is the property that is directly related to the distance that average people keep away from you, but is not related to body odor (or lack there of) Some argue it is fine to release your power around those of similar might as you, others say that you should always suppress it, still others claim you should always be your most intimidating.

Also, I'm like you. I live in the heart of Brooklyn but the next con isn't untill late 2010...and I completely forgot/missed the on this September. Not bothering to go farther than 50 miles outside of city proper for a con.

No anime conventions are for people who enjoy anime. Many people who go to anime conventions because they enjoy anime, manga, cosplay, video games, drawing, j-pop, j-rock, and general otaku. In essence, it's a gathering of average people who are in society who enjoy the otaku culture.

But some who attend anime conventions are people who shun society for various reasons, and are shunned by society for various reasons at any point of their lives (most likely IMO: High school). But you should be safe.

Are you implying that once you're 12 you should start watching primetime television, or if you don't like what they offer on primetime tv you should learn to enjoy it?

In japan, they have the same mentality. Most anime aired in Japan are either aired late night or on cable/satelite unless it's one of those major shonen anime.

What did you watched when you were a teen (read: during high school or middle school) and you were too old for cartoons?

    (in before "implying")

I think that % is way off. Gotta be much higher than that. I mean, compare the amount of middle/high power leveled people to the wan piss/naruto/yaoi fangirls that are at cons. Sure, most of us stay at home, but our numbers still would never match that of the populus of the everyday "anime fans."

I'm upstate NY circa Kodak, went to Anime North and Anime NEXT last year by myself.

Was basically fairly boring. Sat in a lot of panels, struck up a lot of conversations that didn't go anywhere, pretty much everything was overpriced. I was expecting to be cut some deals, but didn't find any. I was planning to buy at least a couple figs at each, couldn't find anything. Every stall carries pretty much the exact same stock as every other stall.

Thought it was gonna be awesome, basically spent a lot of time wandering around by myself killing time.
