I range from 3.5 to 5 depending on context. I understand a good bit of GLORIUS NIPSPEAK, have seen over 200 series, and can talk about the history and development of the anime industry, etc., etc. - but if I'm talking with someone who brings up anime in conversation, I usually just say "I've seen a few anime, what kind of stuff do you like?" If they say stuff like Naruto, Death Note, and Bleach than I'm going to shift the conversation to something else, because clearly I don't really care for their taste, and they probably have never heard of the stuff I watch, so any further conversation on the subject is going to be useless. I never reveal my own powerlevels, and I keep my conversational power levels under strict control, I've learned the hard way that this is the best way to speak about esoteric hobbies of any kind.

As a gift I gave my wife a Neko Koneko pin. She wasn't an Azumanga Daioh fan - or even knew what the show was at that time - but she loves white cats so she thought it was adorable and ended up wearing it to class that day (she's a nursing student).

Some guy in the class noticed the pin and began talking to her about the show, apparently assuming that she was a fan of it too. When it became obvious she had no clue what he was talking about, he balked and immediately offered to buy the pin from her for as much as $250.
