Actually, according to what I've heard, Black Rock Shooter is just some random character design that vaugley resembled Miku Hatsune that the writer of Melt liked so he wrote a song about her.

What I want to know is what that design was going to be used for, cause apparently she also has a rival.

"So the story goes: A crippled dying girl spends most of her time collecting guns, she has the strange ability of being able to talk to the spirits of firearms. One day, she was able to purchase an antique revolver at an auction, it is called "Black Rock". The spirit within turned out to be an infamous mercenary, notable for being a remarkable marksman. The girl and the spirit become close friends but not for long as her health is dimishing. At the end of her life, the unnamed spirit offers her a deal.
