The episode was actually done very well. The entire ordeal was done in one episode (since the original was only one chapter anyhow), but changing the emphasis from Nina and Alexander from before to how they were after they became a chimera really made a difference. They also managed to do the whole State Alchemist thing pretty well too.

A bit of trivia: Brotherhood's episode 5 corresponds to the original's episode 14, and to the manga's chapter 6.

I haven't bothered with the series, I think I'll wait for the DVD releases before bothering, the wait doesn't before me at all.

I bought all 13 volumes of the original anime, though I haven't bought the movie or watched it yet, is it worth it guys?

There are no subs!torrents since Funimation offers it streaming within three days (I'm certainly not complaining). You might get lucky and find parody!subs, but otherwise the fact is that foreign releases have finally caught up with subbers.

Eh, the movie's alright. For a movie called Fullmetal Alchemist, there sure wasn't a whole lot of alchemy used in it. Pretty sure 90% of all the alchemy in the movie was used in the last 20 minutes or so.
