Sup /a/nons, what did you feel when you first watched/read Welcome to NHK? Was it just "Fuck, that's me"? Or a vaque feeling that, somehow, somebody learned a horrible secret about you, although you weren't really a shut-in? For me it was the latter

I actually thought it was funny in a really dark way.

I could see some semblances of myself, but I'm not a shut-in who rarely goes outside and is retarded when it comes to socializing, so it didn't hit too close to home.

The first time I watched it I, I felt sympathy for Satou, but couldn't really relate to him.

I think I've become more similar to him in the past couple of years, but I still relate to Misaki more, mainly because she and I have fairly similar backgrounds. Either way, I'm a miserable person.

My friend was so incredibly insistent that I watched this. Over and over again he would say that the main character was EXACTLY me, no exceptions, every part of him.

SO I watched it and the only thing about him that matched me was the fact that he didn't have a job/go to school.

    1. I am not a social recluse, I just can't be fucked most of the time.
    2. I don't have incredibly adorable women doing shit for me.
    3. I don't smoke.
    4. I don't sponge off my parents.

    Semi relatable:
    1. I do play MMOs, but nowhere near as retardedly.

I'm probably more like his old school buddy/neighbour.

I have thus lost all faith in my friend's ability to analyse and compare anything (which was already almost nill anyways).

But on the topic, I enjoyed it. Kinda lacked a focus point until the end, but that's the type of series it was, the adventures of a NEET with no direction in life, so why should his story?

I have a few friends, but still were quite asocial, living by myself since i was 16, not going to school, tried working, but quit and never found another job (Not that i tried too hard). Then my good friends moved away for different reason (univ. Army. etc).

Now these two last years, i have been lonley.

But last year, one of my buddies recommended NHK, because it reminded him of me. I watched it, and it inspired me to pull my shit together, and i have become much better, even working part time while having casual contact with friends. And the best part?

I know the difference from being happy alone, and happy in a society now..

But bro.. It's an double edged sword..
Sure you can live an comfortable NEET lifestyle (I got 7500 kr each month (bills paid by the state), check the valuta calc)

But you will never leave the shithole unless you yourself motivate yourself enough... And it's hard when you can feast well everyday (by forgoing travel and doing something out of yourself)..
But then again, i come from a rather extreme poverty, by norwegian standards, so i was happy with what i got, and also, nobody wanted to hire an past homeless, even if he was just 14 at the time (afterwards, i learned how to push the state into paying me)

    >>19941654

    Wait wait wait.
that kr is the norwegian krone right?

counted into my countries currency you are getting a WELL payed worker's (with 1-2 diplomas) payment, for doing nothing AND have your bills payed.

You have to be lying, isnt it like 750 or something
    >> Anonymous 03/26/09(Thu)19:45 No.19942306
    >>19941943
HAHA! 750 kr (kroner) is what the average norwegian for maybe.. 3 days?

As i said, losers and lazy fucks get too much money for their own good. But being a humane society, it's more important that everyone is happy, than everyone works for happiness..

The usual rate are around 4500 kroner (with paid bills).
    This is called social aid.

But people who have a reason (like being forgotten when they needed help at the most) for blackmailing the state can get at max, 7500 kroner each month with bills paid.. (but remember, living IN norway, 7500 is just barly enough to live comfortably.. (If i could move to China and still get this much... Well, i would! I'll be rich)

Again, 7500 kr is alot everywhere else in the world, but not in Norway

    Just an example:

My rent for a small apartment is on 3300 KR each month, while the electricy is for around 1000 each month. Internet is around 1400 kr for 2.5 months. But that isn't covered by the state, even if it was and are my most important tool today)

A small but healty dinner cost around 100 Kr daily. Snacks cost 20-30 kr. Books from around 200-500 kr.

A big menu at McDonalds: from 70 to 140 kr
    >> Anonymous 03/26/09(Thu)20:03 No.19942652
    >>19942306

    well still fuck that

Sure I was never homeless and shit, even if I wanted to I could get a social aid that wouldn't even be enough to pay just ONE kind of bill you get each month.

If I were you I'd never work, I'd study stuff that interest me, I could fill up my entire life by that.
    >> Anonymous 03/26/09(Thu)20:08 No.19942768
    >>19942652
So did i. Untill i realised that, knowledge itself won't bring me to my goals.

Anyway, I was like Satou, but my "mother" was the state, who paid for me.

Besides, believe me. Just sitting home everyday without social contact (i was rarly on 4chan then).. Well, it gets old real fast, and that may be the sole reason that made me start working, even if i didn't want to.. That said, my part time work are just barly more than what i would have gotten by sitting on my ass all day (which is obviously a bad thing)

Not to mention all those criminals and other lazy assholes who ISN'T interested in doing something out of themself
