Well after 3 semesters of speculation, it has finally happened. I'm going with my HDD in order to get an ego boost from my power level.ITT: Anime club stories
You're going to regret it.
Negima and Bleach, it won't end well.

HAY GUYS, DID YOU ALL READ THE LATEST NAY ROO TOE SHI PUDDING?
Don't do itYou know the saying "you never know until you try"It doesn't apply to anime clubs
Never been to an anime club or convention, but i would imagine (at a school clu anyway) it would be full of narutards and bollocks like that.
>>18461757I'll echo this sentiment. However go.Maybe you will find another anon in your situation, with which you can comfort. If more /a/nons went to anime clubs they wouldnt be so shit.
>>18461769This. Please, spare yourself the embarrassment. Everybody on /a/ has thought to themselves at least once "Oh hey, an anime club. Maybe I'll check it out." Hell, the first meeting might not be so bad.But then the narutards show up...
>>18461802Fuck, its exactly like a guy I know at my uni's anime club.
>>18461802This is every anime club ever. If you find one without this, you are lying.
>>18461824If anon went then they would no longer be anon? You have much to learn, take a lesson from /b/ when I say IRL anon fails.
Hope you have a good time. Don't listen to /a/.
Best of luck, tell us how it went.
In b4 a thread "lulz a black guy came to our anime club yesterday and wanted to show us faggy shit like natsume yuujinchou"
>my power level. How many gb do you have?
It can't be that embarrassing. And plus, I need to go just because previous anime club threads have been hilarious. But secretly, I'm hoping to meet the president or whatever and takeover the club. So I can fulfill my dream of not watching anime alone.
Hope that it's not too big. A large group tends to cater to the masses, i.e. Naruto, once piece, Bleach. A small group's basically a bunch of friends who have a similar interest. They also tend to show better stuff. So far this year, the society I'm part of has screened/is screening Azumanga, Chi's sweet home, Cromartie, Slayers, etc. Also, Pope 306? You have well named buildings.
>>18461975get a prostitute thenprobably be less awkward than an anime club
>>18461876There is no such thing as IRL anon. I wasn't suggesting you turn up and start spouting memes, this isnt /b/. I was only saying that anime clubs would not be so shit, if more people from /a/ went there. They would not have to reveal the fact that they lurk /a/.Of course trolls or ignorant faggots that recently came to /a/ from /b/ would be a different matter.
>>18461967485GB on my 500GB HDD. >>18461931Now wouldn't that be some shit.
>>18461976Why is it called Pope 306?
>takeover the club. You'd be surprised at how easy it is. I bring the laptop = I pick what we watch, at least that's how it worked in the club I was in.
>>18461757>power levelsI suggest you supress that shit.
>>18462030What was the last thing you watched?
do it. Stay if there are decent fan girls leave if its a sausage fest wearing hand bands. Back in high school i had the former and still talk to them in college so its not completely regrettable.
>>18462030RESULTSAmirite?
>>18462020Because when you see it, you'll turn 306 degrees and open the door knob?
>>18462020Because a guy named Pope (forgot his first name) was a big contributor to my college decades ago and they built the building in his honor.
the anime place/store I helped establish years back was disbanded recently because of infighting and "this is mine!" shit.Mostly because the guy in charge's girlfriend cheated on him with the second guy. On his bed. So, as usual, normals ruin everything.I regret nothing, I was known in the place for being both high power level and a phantom member. They called me Madarame, I hated that. I guess it's all good riddance, but the place wasn't that bad. I tried to keep narutards in check by inciting them to explore better series, and giving them most of my collection. Actually, I think the last time I went was like a year ago, no surprise I found out of the news of its ruin with a three month lag.
>>18462053Ive been to mine for 2 weeks. Theres been one egl style fangirl, and one narutard, he has the pussy deflector and I think he's a lesser /b/rainfarter because he always talks about how he thinks claymore has pedophilia undertones
>>18462062Because when you abuse children, he'll....
My club has a few very high power levels that we try to trickle down to the other members. Not all clubs are run by fucktarded weeaboos.
>>18462042Haroohee. Mind you, this was back in 2006 before it had entered the mainstream yet. My biggest mistake was probably trying to get them to watch Nanoha.
>>18461757> I'm going with my HDDAnd I'll be already sitting there with 5 HDDs plus the 5 backup disks and the other 5 backup disksAnf then you'll leave again and slit your wrists.
>>18462053Why is there a poster of a Motivator there?
>>18462149no pretentious shit?
All the anime that /a/'s liked you hated the past few seasons I've shown my club. Also older stuff.
>>18462166This is the kind of faggotry dick measuring that turns anime clubs shit. Its all about balance, keep the narutards in check, but restrain the ANIME EXPERTS also. What a pity.
Normally I don't post in these threads, but just for you, I'll tell you about what my anime club was like.First off, it was actually called the Society for the Study of Modern Culture. No shit.Anyway, we had about 8 guys (not including me) and 5 girls. The club room had a clean floor so you could just take off your shoes and come in, and two TVs, one with a computer hooked up to it and one with gaming consoles (PS2 and X360). There were two big bookshelves full of manga and monthly/weekly manga magazines. Most of the time you could come in the club room to see three or four people hanging out (there were a few blankets so you could catch a nap between classes) reading manga, watching anime or playing games. There was a big manga store right next to campus so if a new volume of a popular manga had come out you could usually come to see someone had bought it (I bought a few myself). It was more a place for people who liked manga and anime to hang out than a real club - the only coordinated club activity we did was just having a meal and drinking together. There were some fujoshi and moefags and stuff, but what the hell, we could always find SOMETHING in common to talk about. And if not, it never hurts to broaden your horizons. I chatted about yaoi with one of the doujinshi drawing girls once or twice.Just so you know not all clubs are headband wearing idiots, though perhaps my club having been in Korea might have been why. It was pretty fun.
>>18462242Holy shit that's long. I didn't mean to ramble so much. Self-inb4 tl;dr and cool story bro.
> Anime club Why do you want to masturbate in public?
On that note, can someone suggest a system by which an anime club should run, so that good interesting stuff can be shown as well as the mediocre shit, so that we get new blood via the narutards, but also keep the people that have watched OVER 300 ANIME SERIES in check?I was thinking people could bring in USB sticks or something.
>>18462053>holy shit, fukken saved
>>18462242>Korea5/10 I would FFFFFFFFFF- at this story again
>>18462314What's the matter? Too KIMCHI for you?And if you mention the Hetalia bullshit I will promptly point you at /b/'s raids.
>>18462272You play a lot of episode 1's of shows so that everyone can see something they enjoy, even if it's just 1 or 2 a week. A lot of clubs end up following a small number of shows, and if you don't like those, you're shit out of luck. You can also mix in movies and OVAs as well, or if you have a short series (like Eve no Jikan) you follow the whole thing.
>>18462242Best fucking idea ever. At our anime club they tend to have showings of anime series on weekdays. The problem is, I have seen all the shit already. And any stuff thats released that week, I've probably seen already, on that same fucking day. Organising who has seen shit and who hasnt seen shit is a nightmare. Not to mention the awkwardness of not even talking to the people in your club for the majority of the time.
>>18462374>Eve no Jikanthat shit will take forever to be released. hope that s2 get's more loev and funds.
>>18462374Yeah I was thinking ova/movies would be a good idea. Or possibly 2 days, one for socializing another for watching?
I went a few times to see if there were any good-looking girls. There weren't, and most of the people were horribly unfunny. They showed good shit, but I don't need to be in a room with a bunch of meme-shouting retards to watch it.
>>18462374This, only if the whole club decides they like the first episode or two of a show then make it a regular.Oh, do anime clubs exist in UK Uni's? And are they as bad as the ones Americans have been too?
>>18462356>HetaliaTypical over-the-top korean response :)
>>18462242I'm copying and pasting this. If I do enjoy my time at the anime club and/or just quickly blitz the leadership there will be some changes.
>>18462242That sounds pretty much awesome to me. Too bad something that winlike wouldn't happen in Sweden.
>>18462475in b4 Matsuda
>>18462452They exist. They are actually pretty refined, they mostly read random manga quietly for an hour, then swap for 30 minutes and reccomend/drop them.
>>18462558Whilst drinking earl grey in the refactory.
I'm the vice-prez of my schools anime club (also the anime media server admin), we usally show the first 3-4 episodes of one of the newest series each week, and when those run out we fall back on not-quite-as-new but not-quite-as-old either. last week we show the Touhou anime and Akikan (plus episode 5 of Macademi Wasshoi to mentally scar people)
>>18462452Considering I am only attending one uni currently, I can only really speak for one university. I know UEA has one, and I'm sure there's some others out there as well. There's nothing really wrong with the society, they stay away from overly mainstream things and normally watch dubs.
>>18462452http://www.ryouko.demon.co.uk/ukclubs.htm
>>18462409Depends how you can book rooms. We pretty much have once a week on the weekend so we can have longer meetings. Due to so much traffic, if ou book during the week, you can only get like 2 hours at a time max for your club/org, but on the weekends we get as long as we need.Yeah, the club is pretty useless for me for finding stuff I wanna see, but I like educating people on good shows. They really enjoyed Kara no Kyoukai and the Eva movie, and I plan on showing them Macross Do You Remember Love later on this semester. Not all clubs are fail, it really depends on the leadership.
I found an anime club poster and was surprised there were others like myself. I usually suppress my power level but I decided to go to see what kind of people were there. Well, a lot of them were faggots, but the weird thing about it is that the girl I was interested in went. I was so shocked. It gave me an excuse to talk to her, and hey, we connected. We disliked the people in the club for being faggots and for liking shitty anime. Then we spoke about our favorite anime and we liked pretty much the same stuff. She's now my girlfriend of 1 year. Shit's good. She's also attractive. Enjoy your hands, fgts.
Hah. I tried my school's anime club yesterday. It was way better than any of you ever claimed. It's formatted in a way that is intended to broaden our tastes in anime, with themed airings. It was sports anime week, so they ended up showing episodes of Eyeshield 21, Prince of Tennis, Rideback, which is awesome, and Hajime no Ippo. And if I had remembered my Hard Drive, we would have watched One Outs as well. No one showed up in anime tshirts or Naruto headbands, and it was relatively well organized. Of course, I expect it to be the exception rather than the rule.
>>18462681Too obvious
>>18462682;_;Why cant my life be like this?
>>18462682>episodes of Eyeshield 21>Eyeshield 21 animeI pity your poor soul.
>>18462682>Themed viewingsNoted.
>>18462737I realize this, but it's hard to do group viewings of manga, so I'm willing to forgive this. But it intrigued me, so I'm going to pick up the manga at some point.
>>18462760Also request nights, where whether good or bad, people can play 1 episode of anime of their choice. I'd say you can make exclusions to this if they're shows that people already known too well, like narutu, blech, or eva or others.
>>18462766A huge part of ES21's appeal is in Murata's incredibly clean art, so yeah, I really recommend you read the manga.I'm >>18462242 and the concept of everyone getting together at times to watch anime is kinda surprising. My club was more like a big common room that was always open (I even slept there a few times while working on reports) and conflicting class schedules meant club members were almost never gathered. Though if you happened to come in and some anime you were interested in was playing and you'd missed it, you could always just copy it on a flash drive to take home and watch completely. The more organized approach you guys seem to take is pretty intriguing
>>18462856Noted.
>>18462682I forgot the most important part of this, also. The club leader talked about how on the week of Valentines day, he was considering a love anime theme airing, but reconsidered on the grounds that "In that case, we'd have to show harem shit."
>>18462940If this is true, I want to have sex with your club leader.
Why would you go, though? If youre so bored and have time to kill, why would you spend it doing something you already obsess over, and with a bunch of (most likely) faggots none the less?
1) Go to club wearing Aria-print T shirt to show what TYPE of powerlevel you have - normal people won't see a Japanese cartoon, they'll see some aesthetic squiggles.2) Talk to the people who recognise said squiggles.3) Try to get some of them to meet up for a few episodes of something you all like and a few beers at someone's flat.4) You now have a group of similarly minded friends to speak to and be social with, without ever having to communicate with a narutard besides spraying deodorant in his general direction to make him scuttle away.5) ????6) PROFIT
>>18463242because somethings are more injoyable to watch with other people (more funnyer, for example)
I'm sitting in Comp sci class right now, and happen to be right next to a bleachfag. I just saw him reading the latest chapter on one manga. I really want to punch him in the face. I suppose I would have similar feelings if I were to go to an anime club or convention.
>>18463288If thats the case with you club goers, then good for you. Personally i just dont see the appeal, the idea as a whole seems retarded at best.
>>18463293Be careful not to judge the book by the cover, I myself read the latest ep of bleach because of the lol mines shit on /a/
>>18463242because of the ronrey
