21 KB /a/ confessions time - Shit you watched that was shit Anonymous 10/26/08(Sun)00:49 No.15838891
See, I believe in "per aspera ad astra" (through difficulty to the stars). My theory about /a/ is that everybody has once in their life been an actual weeaboo and/or obsessed with an obscure series that's pretty much shit.

I once was like that, too.
I forced myself to watch both seasons of Sister Princess just because I used to be a HUGE Yui Horie and Kawasumi Ayako fag. The first season was very meh, add to that the fact that it was the first Dating Sim Animu I watched, aka the first Moeblob.

I don't even know why I went as far as buying the goddamn artbook. I had no food for a week because of that and back then I was happy about that.

Deep down I am ashamed to have wasted time and money on this shit and to have realized it's nature far too late.

I never watch shitty anime all the way through.

I pretty much know shit when I see it.
    >> Anonymous 10/26/08(Sun)00:53 No.15839003
I watched every episode of Xebec's Negima and liked it.
    >> Anonymous 10/26/08(Sun)01:03 No.15839251
Well, I've forced myself through Kimi ga Nozomu Eien once - with everything set to hyperactive chipmunk mode because I do not see any other way to get any feeling from watching that shit except for "boredom". With sped up and pitched voices, it's actually sort of funny.
    >> Anonymous 10/26/08(Sun)01:05 No.15839300
I forced myself though School Days because /a/ said it was awesome. It was awesome, FOR ONE FUCKING EPISODE. Never again.
    >> Anonymous 10/26/08(Sun)01:06 No.15839343
On a similar note the the OP post, there's always that show that you know is either total shit or just extremely mediocre, but you really like anyway. For me, it's Saint October. It's really generic and the voice acting isn't great, but I still like it.
    >> Anonymous 10/26/08(Sun)01:06 No.15839355
I'm watching Da Crapo right now, trying to get past where I left off years ago. Not surprisingly, my taste has changed in the 5 years that I originally downloaded the series.
    >> Anonymous 10/26/08(Sun)01:08 No.15839398
I watched the whole first season of Vampire Knight. Then I got so upset because nothing happened that I went and read the whole manga. Then I got so upset that nothing happening made any sense that I went and started watching the second season.

    ... I can't stop for some reason.
    >> Anonymous of Germany !WvzhzxDiIQ 10/26/08(Sun)01:10 No.15839490
I used to dig Pokemon and thought it was the show ever. Not just anime, but the best thing ever to grace this earth. At home we always had all three versions of pokemon, and because my sisters were too lazy I often went and played for them because I still needed a certain pokemon. I had legitimately collected all 251 pokemon in silver, I fucking went to Munich just to get Celebi from the official Celibi tour. And when some magazine wrote that a new show even better than pokemon (Digimon) was coming from Japan I thought "Impossible, nothing is better than pokemon." I even believed that all the older people (teenagers to geezers) secretly watched pokemon at home and were just afraid to admit it. I even wrote a poem about Pokemon once.

    Well... I was a kid.

    Ikkitousen.

    Koihime Musou.

    Part of Koutetsu Sangokushi.

    Yokoyama Mitsuteru's Sangokushi.

Basically, anything having to do with Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I'm so rabid. And so, so ashamed.

I also sat through the entire first season of Kyou Kara Maoh.

    Haha

Truth be told, a lot of people that loved Pokémon were all "WHAT IS THIS DIGIMON INFIDEL SHIT?" untill they started watching it.

Did you? The RTL2 version was pretty good. At least we didn't have DIGIMON DIGITAL MONSTERS DIGIMON ARE THE CHAMPIONS as opening.

watched Gunbuster because /a/ said it was good.

Well, I don't really even like anime or anything.

Maybe Ranma was pretty awsome back in the day and all. I don't know.

I like that op, but then again, I was a kid when it first aired so that probably colors my taste.

Oh Yeah, and I loved it. It was 10 times better than Pokemon. Only after watching it I realized that Pokemon was just the same shit again and again each episode. I absolutely loved the first and second season, I even went to the movies to see the Digimon movie. (Wich, thinking back, was probably just a bunch of OVAs thrown together).
The Third Season was kinda hard to swallow for me as it didn't feature Tai and the others and I thought the whole card stuff was bullshit, but in the end it turned out even more awesome than the first two, haha.

    Man that were the times.

    I watched all of Star Ocean EX only because I played SO2. I will never forget how they ended Star Ocean Ex. At least it had a nice OP ;_;

I also forced myself to watch Shining Tears X Wind. Absolute shit. Characters pulling swords out of other characters that made them orgasm sounds nice and all but they got all gay on me in the end and made a guy pull a sword out of a guy. Well, the only reason I really watched it was because of Tony Taka's character designs.

that would be 'per ardua ad astra'

    aspera is something else entirely.

As far as I know the original first Digimon movie is supposed to be awesome if you watch the subbed original whilst the U.S. butcherization that we also received (oh btw it's actually a movie, not some OVAs thrown together) is terrible.

Hey, I even went to a press pre-screening of the Pokémon Movie back then. The invitation said "...and please also bring your kids!". I was around 13-14 back then and writing for a local newspaper, I arrive at the cinema and there are around 100-150 kids and 5, 6 adults.

I laughed when Ash "died", making them go all BAWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

I've never studied latin, I've smoked Pall Mall.

    To quote shittypedia:

On the face is a white coat of arms on the front and back of the pack. Showing two regal lions pawing the sides and a knight's helmet on top, the inside of the shield reads "Per aspera ad Astra" or "Through hardships to the stars"

hardships are difficulties, or is that too much interpretation/translator's freedom?

I watched Ef a Tale of Memories all the way through, just because it was the first time I had seen an anime without a single redeeming quality.

I don't really remember, but I remember there being more than one "final boss" and I remember thinking it was awesome.

    Also fuck you! The first Pokemon movie was great ;_;

I wish I wouldn't have thrown away that Mew card you got for the first couple of showings, shit is probably worth quite a bit now. I used to own everybody with my Pokemon cards, because I had Glurak and Glurak was awesome. But nobody knew how to play the game back than anyway, hahahahaha.

Mh, were you old enough to still witness Sailor Moon on RTL2...? Or did it still run when Pokémon took over Germany? Damn, I'm getting too old. I can only remember Sailor Moon running on ZDF properly and changing it's timeslot every 2 weeks randomly D:<
