read the rest if the thread, so what I say may be a little redundant.
Okay. You did a good job on the body. That's looking fine. The problem
is he head. When you're doing a more cartoonish style (I'm assuming
that's what you usually draw) you can just draw an oval and go to town.
For a more "manga/anime" style, you use the oval shape for the shape of
the skull, and a more elongated shape for the whole face.
For
the eyes, nose, and mouth, well....hmmmm, the lips stand out. You may
not want to draw lips on her like that, it looks a little awkward, but
it's not like it can't be done. Look at some examples of lips in a
manga, and go from there. The eyes look like stereotypical old school
anime eyes. Again, look at some examples of some more modern eyes, and
don't try to imitate, but come up with something of your own. The nose
is okay, but there is little I can say since the shape of he head is
off. Be careful with your placement of the nose is all I can say. Not
to far over to the side, and not too high up or too low.
As for
hair, just keep practicing, and you'll get it. There's no good way to
teach hair. You just have to do it. Just make sure you think of the
hair as a thing with weight and mass, and don't just paste or draw it
on. Think about how it comes out of the scalp and goes down.
Overall,
it's good , but again, look at examples and don't try to mimic, try to
incorporate it into your own style and see what you get. Can't stress
the looking at examples thing enough. And lots of them. Diverse ones,
too. |
