Wait, I'm a bit confused with this whole Toonami thing.
It was just a programming block, it isn't even a damn channel. They don't make the shows or dub them, what the hell /a/?

I don't get it, could someone please explain this to me?

Also, Naruto. Don't tell me you skipped that shit, because you definitely watched it just as much as the other shows if you're crying over Toonami.

/a/ is full of hypocrites. Haven't noticed?

It was still the most badass thing ever.

Considering that anyone here who is actually over 18 probably started watching Anime on toonami it was a big hit to us.
    >> Anonymous 09/21/08(Sun)01:05 No.14872796
We're all nostalgic for Toonami ruining the best shows with shitty dubs.
    >> Fox Sly 09/21/08(Sun)01:05 No.14872801
Toonami was the light in the dark storm of dial-up and poorly made VHS.

    when we were young.

childhood memories of coming home and watching toonami first thing.

might be DBZ, might be Rurouni Kenshin, might be Thundercats, might be Sailor moon, or it might be Outlaw Star. Toonami introduced us to anime. I shed tears.

    No.

Toonami was fucking badass when it was first created. Fuck you. It was apart of my childhood, ever day I'd come home from school and watch Sailor Moon and Tenchi Muuyo.

50% at best. We're not all white in the first place.

It was a primetime programming block that introduced us to the anime world properly.

Fuck off with the Naruto bull. That came way after, when it was already dead.
    >> Anonymous 09/21/08(Sun)01:08 No.14872870
I watched anime on VHS because I wouldn't degrade myself to watching poorly dubbed shonen shit.

People do not realize that they always thought that Toonami created these anime shows when they were young. That is why everyone's crying over it. They should be thanking the damn animation companies and directors, lol.

Toonami was central to a lot of kids childhoods, including mine. It was a programming block in the way Adult Swim was a programming block, in that it didn't feel that way at all. Imagine every day after school you'd come back from all the usual hum and drum to relax on the couch and chill with TOM (or Moltar, back in the day) and watch some cool cartoons. It was the best thing ever when you were a kid.

I mean, I'm sure all the "I CRIED" people should be looked down upon but I feel pretty bummed out anyway. It was an awesome cartoon block that had such a sway on me as a kid, even if I grew up and took it for granted/forgot about it and it got filled with terrible content. I'm bummed out, basically.

Also, no, I never got to watch Naruto, I had stopped with Toonami long before then.

that might be true, but no other station or block at the time had the balls to play low profile anime like that

Some people wouldn't have ultimately ended up here, without this block.

Also, compare other media at the time when it first came around; anime was actually the norm with Toonami, and that's why people cared about it.

Finally, it also had its own charm, personality, whatever you want to call it. That's why people remember it so fondly.

It started in '97. You could have been 6 then and still not be underage now.
