So apparently sometime between 10:30 and 11:00, Toonami is giving it's goodbye message. Thoughts?

All of are thinking about how Toonami is now, all h shitt shows they have, but aren't any of you thinking about the loss of a piece of our childhood? es, it has rotted and is festering, but back in it's glory day, it was what made us run home from school each day. Shit, half of us wouldn't even BE into anime without exposure to Outlaw Star, Yuyu Hakusho, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo....Toonami was a gateway for a lot of us. Yes, it's shit now, but at least Toonami was still there. Now that it'll be gone, EVERYTHING, both good and bad, is over.

It's the end of an era.

I disagree. I still hear the kids outside running around talking about what village they blong to and how they cant wait for next saturday. When one kid asked me where I was for a month and I said Japan he asked "Did you see Naruto?! I love Naruto! I watch it every saturday with my Dad!" so I highly doubt its getting terrible ratings.

Live From Anime Weekend Atlanta- Toonami 1997-2008

September 20th, 2008 by Chad Bonin

Cartoon Network is running late, but…

Powerpuff Girls Z may be coming late this year or early next.
    >wat
Pretty big announcement about Toonami coming tonight. (One of the heads of AWA mentioned Toonami would air for the last time tonight, but wasn’t clear if he was joking) edit- someone asked, and he reiterated to watch Toonami tonight for an announcement.

Edit- Toonami, as we know it is gone. The team is going to other parts of CN, anime will be mostly handled by AS, and action on Friday nights. Toonami is gone for ratings. Jetstream will be active.
    >Anime in [as]'s hands? We're hosed.

    >LIES. Geass was #1 in ratings for 2 weeks or so and then they give it deathslot.
FusionFall in January, beta testing now.
    >what?
Naruto- S&P has 15 more episodes, and “wait and see” on second series. No word on where it goes without Toonami.
    >AXE IT.
CN is airing Gotham Knight and New Frontier, working on a Ben 10 Alien Force live action movie.
    >FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF- BATMOE ON MY TV?

    >Ben 10 should stay as a cartoon. Live action should stay on Disney and Nick.

You know what? I'm glad I'm Canadian

After school every day when I was a kid, we'd have this line up of shows..

Pokemon, Digimon, DBZ, Escaflowne, Sailor Moon, Beast Wars and others when other shows ended like some episodes of Gundam Wing

All shows were shown relativally uncut, Freeza was even shown cut in half. We got all of Escaflowne, unlike you guys.

DBZ eventually went to friday nights when we got tons of other animu shows, and it finished off.

Anyone else remember that old pasta about this 18 year old or so guy who had this dog ever since he was a puppy? He used to be a little shit to it, but over the years, he became really close to it. Then the dog started getting old, and his hips started to give out, and they decided they should put him down. The boy walks the dog into the room, and the doctors put him on the table and say "You probably shouldn't be here for this," so the boy leaves and looks back as the door closes, and the dog is looking back at him.

He doesn't realize it until he gets home, but he had just left his best friend to die alone.

Just sit down, and turn on the television, and just watch it for a little while. Be there in its last moments. Say goodbye to an old friend.

It was dark. And cold. So very cold. Odd, considering that robots weren't supposed to feel cold. But Tom certainly felt cold now, as he lay bleeding his oil on this planet, dismembered by the animals he had tended for.

And then he remembered. He remembered how those people, in charge of his creation, forced him to delete his AI companion, whose name he couldn't bring out of his heavily corrupted memory banks. He remembered how they remodeled him, and trapped him on this planet, and how they dismantled the Absolution.

He remembered how he used to live his life among the stars, airing quality entertainment for the young, and how his shows were always packed with copious amounts of awesome. And now, broken and dying, he realized just what signing that contract with Cartoon Network had done to him.

    "...Why...?"

....On that day, just before the death of my childhood, a machine shed a single tear, before it's existence was lost forever in the stream of time. Tom now goes to meet Sarah and Moltar in the place beyond the stars.

Farewell, Tom. You will not be forgotten.

Naruto, maybe. One Piece has been dead in the watter (HA!) for some time now, Funimation couln't make lightning strike twice on that one.

[AS] can't make thier minds up as far as Shin-Chan is concerned.

And with this, the last piece of Anon's childhood was gone.

    Gone.

    But Anon was not sad.

He was by Toonami's side when it died.

And he smiled. And Toonami smiled.

And Anon went on, remembering what he learned. What he saw. He told Toonami one last thing before Toonami departed into deep space:

"A boy has a right to dream, but a man has the power to make his dreams come true."

And Anon grew up. A strong, courageous soul.

Toonami or maybe CN more appropriately did this to themselves. They started fucking it up when they moved Yu yu hakusho to 5am. All they had to do was stay out of their own way and it would have continued to be great. Instead they continued to pick weird ass shows like that wolf rain bullshit and just overall shitty management.
