    What does /a/ think of animations done in America? Disney, cartoons, etc. Not comics.

    I really think Disney ruined the chance of animation in the U.S. to appeal to a wider audience. Due to their constant need to create G or PG material, they pretty much ruined the image of animation, allowed for more cartoons exclusively aimed at children, and pretty much destroyed any chances of redeeming this medium in America.

    If it's not for children, it always seems to be some sort of comedy though, I like those. Although I have raging hatred towards King of the Hill and a few others.

    I will elaborate.
    Disney DID fuck up the animation industry, but it wasn't because of the marketing they did. They ruined it by ceasing to rely on creativity and focused on making money via constant straight to VHS sequels / releases, on top of changing their board members / directors, led to utter and total fail, and thus decided to close down their 2D animation studio for good. Just because Disney marketed their stuff towards "kids," doesn't mean they ruined any notion of animation as an accepted mature medium. Independent artists. Do you know them? Get out.
