eternal classic
The Black Swordsman Arc is a little too off-canon for my tastes, but when Band of the Hawk came out in '92, I think Berserk really came into its own, commercially and artistically. The whole arc has clear, crisp linework, and a new story of political intrigue and betrayal that really gives the series a big boost. He's been compared to Tetsuo Hara, but I think Muira has a far more bitter, cynical attitude to free will.
In '97, Muira released the conviction arc, his most accomplished story. I think his undisputed masterpiece is "Rape Horse", an image so enticing, most people probably don't read the text. But they should, because it's not just about Farnese's conformity, and the dangers of religion, it's also a personal statement about coping mechanisms themselves.
