| Welcome to the Plants vs. Zombies Sound Sources spreadsheet! The aim here is to provide comprehensive/understandable documentation for the sources of music sounds in the mainline PvZ games.
| The only rule here is that you do not claim this information as your own, please. This information is freely available for anyone to share and discuss: For crediting, this documentation is managed by the VGM Resources community and the various communities related to it.
| Many of the findings on this sheet derive from the NEWER VGM Sound Sources spreadsheet, linked on this cell.
| ||||||
| Click here for an invite to the VGM & Other Instrument Sources Discord Server if you want to know more about sound source finding!

| General Spreadsheet Editor Rules
| ||||||
| 1. Only list confirmed sources. | List all known instruments in the track. Instruments with known sound sources should be verified beyond reasonable doubt, preferably with a demo. If the source is unknown, add "UNKNOWN" under the "Source" column.
| 2. Do not reinterpret patch names. | Write patch/preset names exactly how they are displayed on the product or patch list in question. Do not abbreviate*, expand, reorder, or attempt to clarify the patch name in any way. Use the notes section if you must append any clarifications.
| 3. Handle disputes correctly. | Place a comment on the sheet if you are challenging a find (particularly those without audio demonstrations), and put important developments in the comment thread. Do not erase the entry until the dispute is resolved.

| ||||||
| 1. List songs by alphabetical order | Self explanatory. All songs with official names in the soundtrack release should be listed alphabetically.
| 2. List OST differences/info under song sections | If the OST variant of a track has notable differences (such as changed or new instrumentation), add a section below with revelant information. Otherwise, just keep one section for that song, if all the sources are identical.
| 3. List ingame instruments by mainmusic.mo3 | The mainmusic.mo3 file contains all instruments (with respective samples) used in PvZ PC, with filenames and numbered index order. Thus, list and name all instruments/samples for In-Game tracks in this manner.
| 4. List which articulation was sampled | Using brackets, list which articulation was sampled for an instrument next to its preset (ex. Harp 2 [D#5]).

| 1. List songs by OST name. | Part of the GW1 music was released onto an official soundtrack with official track names. Please use these.
| 2. Non-OST / Gamefiles tracks go into Section 2 | For songs that were never released in OST form, please use estimated guess names, and leave the gamefile names next to them in parenthesis. Also, leave them in Section 2, as to not mix them up with the official OST.

| 1. Only list new / non-reused tracks | Part of the GW2 music is reused from GW1. To keep things as simplistic and efficient as possible, only list trakcs that are unique to GW2.
| 2. Use estimated names + gamefiles names | As GW2 never had an official OST released for it, please use estimated guess names for songs, and leave the gamefile names next to them in parenthesis (same practice as GW1's unreleased music).

| To-Do | |||||
| ||||||
| - Check all "UNKNOWN" samples and try to find them
| - Clear up whether Peter McConnell used VSL SE or SE Full patches in his tracks (as well as if he used the remapped/resampled expansions such as "Dimensional Brass I" instead)
| - Find out what Spitfire libraries Peter McConnell mentioned, as well as which "Mural" volume he used for PvZ 2 Lost City
| - Maybe add a Battle for Neighborville section? Though, I'm not interested in the game in all honesty. Lots of the OST sounds like it uses different (and live) stuff too.Sometime in the future perhaps.
