There is some multi-purpose stock music too of varying genres. All of the individual stems of the music are available as well. Although it's not used as often as other sound effects libraries in most media, it's commonly used in anime and some old-school video games, such as Super Mario Sunshine, Battle for Bikini Bottom, and... 7 | Proteus/2 was the first good source of orchestral sounds that could be bought for a sampler. Containing brass, winds, strings, and other percussion, it has seen use in numerous classic video games. It features 144 instruments used across 192 available presets. These samples find use as musical sound effects in Pikmin and Pikmin 2, sometimes in the form of jingles. For example, the randomized bells you hear in between cave sublevels in Pikmin 2, the harp glissando when examining a ship part or checking in with the S.S. Dolphin, or Louie's swarm jingle loop. | E-MU - Proteus/2 (Orchestral) | 1990 | Sound Module | Discontinued | Hajime Wakai | No | Jingles | No | Yes |
| This library contains many PROSŌNUS sounds. While it was known that many composers at Nintendo used PROSŌNUS sounds, it wasn't known which libraries were actually used, as PROSŌNUS sounds were often reused in many libraries. This is probably the actual PROSŌNUS library that was used by Nintendo (supported by a source code leak that proved both Koji Kondo and Hajime Wakai used SampleCell 2... This is the Factory library for SampleCell 2.) On these two discs, are many sounds used in Koji Kondo and Hajime Wakai's works, including Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, and Super Mario Sunshine.. | Digidesign - SampleCell II CD-ROM Library #1 | 1991 | SampleCell CD-ROMs (2 CDs) | Discontinued | Nintendo | Yes | Yes | No | Yes |

| Best Service's official site doesn't list any info on this pack, nor do a lot of other popular sites. Gigapack consists of 2 CDs. The first is almost entirely drums and loops with listed BPMS, while the other CD is PACKED full of melodic sounds. It's a CD that'll keep you busy for a long time. Many of the sounds from Gigapack are either recorded directly from other popular synthesizers and sample CDs, or are sometimes edited slightly. | Best Service - Gigapack | 1993 | AKAI CD-ROMs (2 CDs) | Discontinued | Nintendo | No | Yes | No | No |

| Peter Siedlaczek's Orchestral Colors is compilation of various orchestral effects, hits, and single notes (played by an entire orchestra/ensemble!) These orchestral samples were used very often in video games. Despite their outstanding quality, I don't think I've ever heard the samples used in any other forms of media. As of recently, all of the collections by Peter Siedlaczek have been combined and brought back to life from the old CDs, and are now available for download and use as a VST, going by the name of "Complete Orchestral Collection by Peter Siedlaczek". | Best Service - Peter Siedlaczek's Orchestral Colors | 1994 | AKAI CD-ROMs (5 CDs) | Virtual Instrument | Nintendo | No | Yes | No | No |

| The Roland Sound Canvas SC-88 and its other models were one of the most popular MIDI rackmounts of its time. On it, are arguably the most "video gamey" sounding instruments you'll likely ever hear. The Sound Canvas' iconic library has become a staple in video game soundtracks, working its way into thousands and thousands of games. Slap this module's instruments into one of your songs, and boom! Instant nostalgic soundtrack! With the rise of digital plug-in instruments, Roland made one great miracle of a decision 2015 and revived the Sound Canvas series, making a VST plugin with all of the original sounds from the Sound Canvas series of modules. The Sound Canvas SC-88 was used vigorously throughout Pikmin and Pikmin 2's soundtrack. By today's modern standards, it's sound is described as being a little "toy-like", but that not even that can do away with its charm. | Roland - Sound Canvas SC-88 | 1994 | Sound Module | Virtual Instrument | Hajime Wakai | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| A World-Class sampling library featuring three of the greatest bassists on the planet: Marcus Miller, John Patitucci, and Abraham Laboriel. 21 | The Kurzweil K2500 originally came with several floppy disks you can insert into and load on the Kurzweil. One of these floppies was the "K2500 FARM", which featured hundreds of extra instrument patches. These rare extra patches also find use in Pikmin's music. If you lost the floppy disks or if your Kurzweil didn't come with them, do not fear, as all of the original files are available for download for free on Kurzweil's website, on the official page for the K2500. Just get some blank floppies to put the files on. | Kurzweil - K2500 Program Farm | 1995 | Floppy Disk | Free File Download | Hajime Wakai | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| The Kurzweil K2500 is a staple of the Pikmin soundtrack; many prominent sounds from these games originated from this line synthesizer. It has been used for all 3 main-line Pikmin games, and is even utilized for some sound effects! Compared to the Roland Sound Canvas, the Kurzweil K2500 allows for much more extensive control over its sound, and even allows you to even create (synthesize) your own patches right on the K2500 itself. Patch creation is extremely in-depth for and customizable for it's time. | Kurzweil - K2500R | 1995 | Sound Module | Discontinued | Hajime Wakai | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |

The first CD (Volume 1-4) features African/Contemporary samples. The second CD (Volume 5) is the World/Dance CD. Some few identical samples seem to exist on both. Hajime Wakai mainly uses this collection for some several iconic sound effects. Kazumi Totaka uses the percussion samples for a bunch of his compositions in Pikmin 2. | Spectrasonics - Supreme Beats | 1995 | AKAI CD-ROMs (2 CDs) | AKAI CD-ROMs (2 CDs) | Nintendo | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |

The first CD/volume contains string ensembles, the second contains solo strings, the third has winds, fourth has brass and FX, and the fifth has harp and percussion. These orchestral samples were used very often in video games. Despite their outstanding quality, I don't think I've ever heard the samples used in any other forms of media. 29 | The KORG TRITON series was released in 1999, and after 20 long years, has finally been revived in VST format for computers! Unlike the original synth, the VST version offers a lot more regarding customization. The sounds from the TRITON are a mix of synths and some nostalgic excellence. The sounds particularly favor Hip-Hop and R&B. There are over 4000 programs available if you include all the expansions. The TRITON finds use of both of its beautiful acoustic and electronic sounds in Pikmin 3. | KORG - TRITON | 1999 | Sound Module | Virtual Instrument | Asuka Hayazaki | No | No | Yes | ? |
| The PLG150-DX is one of many expansion boards that can be installed into Yamaha synthesizers of the Modular Synthesis Plug-In System (such as the CS6x, CS6R, S80, MOTIF, etc.) This board features the same 6-operator FM tone generation system that poweres the DX-series synthesizers. It adds an extra 128 patches to the synth its installed into; every patch's sound is created through FM synthesis. Totaka most likely installed this board into his Yamaha MOTIF, since he is not known to have used any other Yamaha synthesizers in Pikmin 2. | Yamaha - PLG150-DX | 1999 | Sound Expansion Board | Discontinued | Kazumi Totaka | No | Yes | No | No |

| If you want some unique ethnic sounds, try some Turkish instruments! This library has a large amount of loops and many singular drum samples. Zills are great. | Q-Up Arts - Voices of Istanbul | 2000 | AKAI CD-ROM (1 CD) | Virtual Instrument | Kazumi Totaka | No | Yes | No | No |
| The MOTIF is a workstation/rack module used by Totaka. It houses the famous guitar sound used throughout the Animal Crossing series. This same guitar also makes a short appearance in Wii Sports and the Snagret Hole theme, also by Totaka. In comparison with the Roland Sound Canvas SC-88, it features much more realistic and modern-sounding acoustic instruments, and some lovely vintage synths. It definitely favours hip-hip artists. There are 1664 voices total, and 97 drum kits. The classic model (the one used in Pikmin 2) is only available in physical form and has been discontinued, so if you want to utilize its sounds, you are likely going to have to find a pre-owned one. | Yamaha - MOTIF | 2001 | Sound Module | Discontinued | Kazumi Totaka | No | Yes | No | No |
| Symphonic Orchestra is... extensive. To achieve the feel of a live concert hall performance, every instrument was recorded with three mic positions: close, stage (conductor's position), and hall. Mixing these sounds is a blast, and allows you to create the natural ambience a project might require. No need for any artificial reverb! | EastWest - Quantum Leap - Symphonic Orchestra | 2003 | Virtual Instrument | Virtual Instrument | Atsuko Asahi | No | No | Yes | No |
| Logic Pro X is a modern digital audio workstation (DAW) and MIDI sequencer for Mac OSX. Still receiving updates to this date, it's one of the most powerful software for audio production. It sports a large selection of pre-installed plug-ins, unique loops, and MIDI instrument patches. Several of these instruments exclusive to Logic Pro are used for some music in Pikmin 3. Because of those instances (and Logic's popularity in the studio), it may be safe to assume that Logic Pro X was also a primary DAW used for creating and composing Pikmin 3's music. | Apple - Logic Pro X Library | 2004 | Digital Audio Workstation | Digital Audio Workstation | Likely Hajime | No | No | Yes | No |

| Omnisphere is a VST available for download and use in modern DAWs. Although the original Omnisphere was recently been succeeded by Omnisphere 2 (now version 2.6), the original first library of sounds is included in Omnisphere 2. Omnisphere is HUGE... I mean, it takes up a good 64 GB of your hard drive. That alone should tell you how seriously huge it is. Arguably one of the best VSTs out there to own, it's very expensive. But worth it. The plugin allows for extensive modulation and features tools for messing around with its existing patches. On top of that, you can even import and create your own. | Spectrasonics - Omnisphere | 2008 | Virtual Instrument | Virtual Instrument | Atsuko Asahi | No | No | Yes | ? |
| The KONTAKT Player is not to be confused with KONTAKT 6. In order to gain access to the KONTAKT Factory Library, you must fully purchase KONTAKT 6. This is the most recent library since its release to be used in a mainline Pikmin game. | Native Instruments - KONTAKT Factory Library | 2010 | Virtual Instrument | Virtual Instrument | Atsuko Asahi | No | No | Yes | ? |
