that actually looks pretty good with more clarity
Sometimes it's difficult to get high res images to work with older games but this looks like it works nice

I know what you mean, it’s not as jarring as before
When they made the jump from arcade to dc they swapped/improved a lot of important textures like roads and grasses but there were some things left out. The brick one was originally like 128x128 or something which is really far off from the standard res for ground textures in dc.
Ground textures in dc vary between 256 or 512 squared with some road textures having a width of 1024

holy hell lol
I don't know why but DC games seemed to like using massive textures for the time, Sonic Adventure 2 has some pretty huge ones as well
Have you ever documented the differences between the versions in a video or page before? (edited)

I always point stuff out to the people in my server but I don't have a full on video or anything like that.
I haven't done that yet because I've been bouncing around projects regarding the game, hard to focus on one thing.
There's also a gamecube/ps2/xbox version of the game used in a compilation which is where I do all of the modding work for the game. I originally started modding the GC port to fix all of the issues with the game but because of the how easy it is to work with I've been using it as a base for a mod.
There's talks of a wiki though, as soon as one of those people start it I'll send them stuff. Writing/organizational stuff are some of my weaker points
Wood match is totally correct btw
I thought it would have just been a section but it turns out it's the whole thing lol

what the hell, nice
dude same though. I don't consider myself good at writing at all but I've been doing it just to make sure the information can get out there
If you guys start a wiki btw I'll totally link to it the same way I link to Princess Mth's wiki

That would help a crap ton
Yeah I just want literally everything as sourced as possible just to make it way easier for other people to work on something or mod, etc.
My dream would be to remake the game in an engine and keep it open source. Warner Bros. got the rights to the series in some acquisition deal like 10 years ago and they've kept the game locked in a vault since. It's a bummer now knowing of all of the people that would play a remake of the arcade.

That'd be sick, considering what you do know with this game I'd hope they reach out to you if plans for a remake or port ever happened

It'll be either that or a shutdown lol
dunno how WB with that kind of stuff

Hope not considering how foolish on their half that is considering you're one of the few dudes still maintaining value for the game

Here's gameplay; It's a very well made game but I'm pretty sure it didn't catch on as they intended because they made the skill ceiling too high. There's a lot of shortcuts that are more optimal than just standard driving but a handful of them are very difficult.
1:30 and onwards is a pretty good chain of shortcuts, they open and close depending on the elapsed time in the track

Interesting, the more gameplay I see of this the more I'm surprised this wasn't talked about more often
The track design actually looks fun

Yeah it's really well made. Arcade had an expansion that added tracks 6 and 7 (which were originally console exclusives) Those 2 tracks were made by Rush 2's (n64 exclusive game) track designers.
It'd be hard for any game to take off though if they're locked into super expensive hardware. It just recently became playable on mame as of like 2 years ago.
Console versions are okay too but they run on a different engine and there's some small adjustments to the tracks, idk just not the same

Ah so if I ever got around to trying this I should probably try emulating the arcade game. I assume either Dreamcast or Gamecube would be the next best thing?

Stevie 30-Apr-21 04:21 PM
If you're playing on PC then Rush 2049 Special edition on mame for arcade
If you want to play a console port on PC then Rush 2049 Legacy Edition (my mod) on dolphin.
DC is the best if you're on actual hardware. N64 is good too but it requires expansion pack for track 6 and some other stuff (edited)

sweet gonna have to keep that in mind. I think my friend actually has the N64 version already so I'll have to have him bring it over next time he visits

oh sweet, you'll have fun with the multiplayer stuff

I used a heavily modified stone texture from wraptures 3d. This is probably the closest I can find to the actual texture used.
Here's the original.

Hi I was wondering if anyone know how to import higher quality texture into games. Since I've been wanting to do it for SA2 on Steam

I’ve never done steam textures before so idk the dumping method. But you can get away with downloading a texture pack that someone else has made and overwrite files there. You’ll probably have to look into dumping textures eventually since most packs don’t have everything.

I feel the world of game Modding is against me mostly because the people who don’t want teach me or don’t care about teaching me or maybe this teaching is misunderstood as doing the stuff for me because of this they post something so that is too difficult to understand or something that I think is unrelated. Too much info overloads my mind FYI

Is it just me or does it sound like somebody saying “help”? I was watching the quake ii demo and kept hearing this
Is that one of the enemy sounds?

I spent the day texturing parts of a race track that dates all the way back to 97 in Rush: The Rock. This pic is from unity.

This is what the section of the map looks like in the game for comparison.
This was a combination of two textures from separate libraries. WorldBuilder was where the rocks came from; I don't remember the metal. The libraries from r96 are really helping though!
This was a custom and I spent over 2 hours on it. I pulled the stripes from another library and the Danger sign from an image search, but everything else started out as a drawing
