These are photos of the towers of light equipment at WTC, taken by Cryptome on the afternoon of March 11, 2002, before the lights were turned on that night.

Canvas sheeting shown here atop the concrete barricades is being installed at the perimeter of the WTC site to limit public viewing into the "hallowed" pit where almost 2000 bodies remain unrecovered. A 30-foot high wall is planned to further limit public viewing. Officials claim the view is "unsettling." Tourists have been quoted in the press upon first seeing the site, "We've come all this way to pay respects to the horrible tragedy but there's nothing to see, this is only a construction site."
