This surveillance equipment was found in Kilcoo in South Down on the land of John  MacAuley, who has been the victim of British army and RUC harassment for the last number of years.

There were 3 cameras in all, one pointed at his house, one at his shed and another overlooking his land.

The cameras were sited some distance from what they were pointed at.

This is a significant amount of equipment as can be seen when compared to the dog kennel at the rear of the picture.

A date was also found with the equipment, May 2006, but this could be the date of an upgrade or battery change rather tham the date it was placed there.

Fake rocks can also been seen in which it appears the camera was hidden.

A2 responds:

Bad picture.

Photo shows commercial CCTV cameras with telephoto CCTV lenses.

Smaller boxes appear to be connected / dealing with transmission of video out of the target area.

Modes of transmission could be fiber optic, usually buried in covert runs.

 Slowscan over telephone lines.

Coaxial cable to an LP/viewing post/command center.

Microwave requires antennas however none seem to show in photos.

Names and model numbers and SNs if possible may help ID the system howevervmost jobs like this sanitize the equipment.

A3 responds:

As many will already know, Northern Ireland is part of the UK (= the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), so the subject line could be rewritten "UK Spy Gear Found in UK", which is a tad less interesting.

The text accompanying the photo refers to John MacAuley being a victim of RUC harassment.  The RUC hasn't existed for several years now.
