Program Description (Overview, Objective, Benefits)

Program Overview: Demonstrated in May, 1995 with the lead of the Signal Center, this initiative was approved for procurement by DISC4 in Feb, 1996. With the support of CASCOM, SIGCEN, ISC, PM JTACS, FORSCOM, LIA and DISC4 this program was rapidly brought to the field for TFXXI in June, 1996. Fielding to FP1 through 3 and Special Forces will continue through FY98.

Program Objective: The Network Encryption System (NES) provides cryptographic separation of classified from unclassified data, which allows for the unclassified CSS STAMIS to access the Secret High Tactical Packet Network (TPN). The overall objective of this program is to field NES with the CSS Automated Information Systems Interface (CAISI) and Domain Name Service (DNS) at ECB; and with each 39D or Single Shelter Switch at EAC .

Program Benefits: This is the only NSA approved solution for connecting the unclassified CSS STAMIS to the classified TPN.
