Roof construction elements from the bottom: pole rafters resting on mud brick or stone walls, layer of split slats and reeds, layer of leaves, layer of thick mud for insulation and heavy enough to resist horizontal and uplift wind forces, surface coating of straw embedded in water-shedding matrix wrapped over the perimeter edge, colored white to reflect heat. Levelling blocks at end of two rafters. Apparently assembled with nails, gravity held, materials all natural except the finish matrix which is probably synthetic.
