Cryptographic Modernization Industry Day

“Partnering for a Secure Future”

9 December 2004

[Excerpt. Conference registration at source.]

The Department of Defense has budgeted and allocated $1.4 Billion to modernize the cryptographic capabilities of the military. In order to help the Cryptographic Modernization Program Office, CMPO, learn about new products, methodologies and services pertaining to the modernization and to help our industry partners better understand the CMPO’s requirements and how they can contribute to the effort, the AFCEA Alamo Chapter and the Cryptologic Systems Group, CPSG, are hosting the Cryptographic Modernization Industry Day on 9 December 2004 at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, TX. The theme of the Industry Day is “Cryptographic Modernization, Partnering for a Secure Future.”

The Cryptographic Modernization Program Office Mission Statement is – “Develop a modern Type I cryptographic base that supports security, interoperability, flexibility, programmability, and key management infrastructure compatibility. Support the transformation to the next generation of cryptographic capabilities that provide US forces, operating unilaterally or in combination with multinational and interagency partners, with the security needed to protect the flow and exchange of operational decision making information.”

Maj. Gen. Charles Croom Jr., Director of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Infostructure, Deputy Chief of Staff for Warfighting Integration, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C., and Brig. Gen. Edward L. Mahan Jr., Deputy for Acquisition, Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., will be speaking about the Cryptographic Modernization program and its implementation during the Industry Day. There are three separate activities during the CM Industry Day:

1. Presentations by the CMPO. These presentations will explain the vision of the Cryptographic Modernization Program Office, specific areas of need and interest, contracting requirements, small business special requirements and related topics.

2. Displays by the interested vendors. Vendors are invited to present table top displays related to the CM Program. There are many areas of interest for the CMPO. They include but are NOT limited to tactical communication, key/enterprise management, professional consulting services and secure networking. Space will be limited to approximately 6 X 2 ½ feet for each vendor display table (provided by the Alamo Chapter) to allow the maximum number of participants. We invite you to bring and display your “gee whiz” products and ideas. The CMPO is looking for new and innovation concepts, products and ideas. This is your opportunity to shine. Set up for the tables will begin at 7:00 AM and tear down will begin at 3:45 PM and must be completed by 4:30 PM on December 9, 2004.

3. One-on-one discussions between vendors and CMPO representatives. The CMPO has agreed to have representatives meet with interested vendors to answer specific, targeted questions on a time and space available basis. These sessions will last only 15 minutes so be prepared to ask the important questions not answered in the CMPO presentations.
